i would say be patient with yourself and don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions. there’s going to be a lot of information coming at you very quickly, but there are lots of people that i’m sure will be willing to help you along the way. if you’re worried about memorizing recipes/register buttons those will come with time and practice. a lot of the job involves cleaning and prepping for the next shift, so be ready for that too. it can be stressful when it’s very busy and some customers are rude to you, but as cheesy as it may sound it is what you make it lol. store resources on the ipad is really helpful!! i hope your training goes well, good luck!!

Make friends! The sooner you let the baristas at the store know who you are, the sooner they’ll help you out. Sometimes we’re nervous too with new partners and don’t know if it’s helping or hurting to step into your space. If you make your presence known then the whole ride will go a lot smoother. Don’t be afraid to ask questions either. It makes ALLL the difference

If you already have it, do not wear your apron into the store, carry it with you. You’ll look less like a noob Lolol

Ask questions, be observant, and just know that it’s gonna be a lot of computer training and practicing small things before you get to learn bar so just be patient. Talk to your new coworkers but be respectful of the work they need to get done. Have fun and just know it takes 3-6 months for most new hires to feel confident in their skills!

Be patient and ALWAYS ask questions if you don’t understand. It can be overwhelming at first but once you get over that learning curve it’ll get easier.

HEllo, I’m currently a training a barista and have trained before and one thing you should know is… no one will fault you for not remembering, if you remember nothing during your first week it’s okay! Just ask us questions, our job is too support and help you! We want you to succeed, tell your trainer how you like to learn (hearing, seeing, or hands on, or even a mixture!) Be patient, and it’s okay to be scared, no one will judge you!

For the love of god don’t show up high. I took an edible the night before my training ( hadn’t taken on in a while ). It carried over to the next day and I was stoned out of my mind trying to understand coffee

Ask questions, ask about easier ways to do things. Don't worry if it feels like too much, you'll get it eventually. Be friendly with your fellow baristas and don't gossip about them (shitty customers are fair game).

The partner resources app has a ton of very useful things if you ever need help as well. Recipes, dates for perishable goods, how to do credit card tipping, and a whole bunch of other things that I need to look at sometime.

Also the my daily app on the ipad has some really useful store updates as well.

do you know what the app is for that?

Listen to all the little side comments your trainer mentions about making things faster or more efficient. Like "...but if you do it this way it's much easier"

Those comments will really help you in the long run as LONG as theyre still adhering to standards.

But yeah taking note of those will be a huge advantage cause you're taking tips from seasoned baristas who have already gone through a lot of trial and error to make things easier.

Don’t stress about the people. They’re just people.
