really had a lady throw her ham & Swiss baguette at my shift because there was cheese on the bag(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by melkorarose
Yep. This really happened. Came up through the drive thru demanding a new ham & Swiss. We gave her the last one, so we offered a refund (didn't wanna deal with the arguing) she pulls up to the window, I see nothing. Turning, I see my shift flipping her off as shes leaving, as she apparently just drove up fast, threw the sandwhich directly at him, and drove off. A customer behind her witnessed it and checked on my shift before we even realized what happened (OG customer)
Why are people so bitter and angry? Over cheese on the inside of the bag 😭

Sbux wants us to continue to cater to these people too... ridiculous

The fact we have to deal with abuse from people just so Howard Shultz can get an extra few bucks is insane.

that’s where the bucks in the name comes from

moments like these make me question if people are even worth being nice to 😭 if it was a bad day for me that lady would have me chasing her down the street and i’d throw the ham and swiss so it sticks to her back window 😂 hopefully she’ll have one of those fancy luxury cars that are too good for back windshield wipers 🥴 people like that are lucky they even get the bird lol some baristas are one karen away from getting fired <3

Hi, it’s me. I’m the barista that’s one Karen away from getting fired! Told my boyfriend don’t be surprised if I come home and tell him I’m fired 😂
My SM doesn’t support us, she dOeSn’T lIkE cOnFrOnTaTiOn and basically made it look like I don’t know how to do my job twice in a week because she won’t say anything to customers. If it happens again, I’m about to tell her I’m not going to be on bar if I’m not going to be backed up. Partners get away with and do whatever they want. We have a partner who literally can’t do any position and he’s been there over a year. Only a handful of people can be on bar so I’m on bar every shift, all shift long. Pretty sure my SM doesn’t like me because I give her an earful every once in a while. She just says “I’ll talk to them” and doesn’t do shit about it. We have a partner who has done a no call/ no show at least 3 times (one time we were slammed and I had 30+ drinks in que at any given time). Same partner constantly calls off. I’m so tired, I hate this job. I’ve worked at two different stores and neither one has been a great experience. I’m so frustrated. Everyone is either incompetent or petty and difficult to work with. I haven’t found many partners who are decent and capable of doing the job. I’m so sick of people who can’t do their jobs and making mine harder and getting attitude from customers.

You should totally transfer if you’re able to bestie! there has to be a SSV more competent than that nearby 😆 Some people cannot fill the leader role so easy when it comes to higher up positions:/ U shouldn’t have to deal with that because they have to be able to mediate between both sides if there needs to be any sort of confrontation. The blame should not be on the barista nor the customer and as a manager it’s your responsibility to take any faults and own up to it in moments like that. Especially when your barista has already followed the LATTE model. Some partners are nasty and don’t even deserve that title sbux gives them but you should have to fight every battle tooth and nail by yourself. Transfer !!

Meh, I don’t think it’ll help to be honest. I’ve seen enough from this company and I’d rather find a job that isn’t so frustrating with coworkers who aren’t so petty and have bully-like mentality. The problem is being exhausted after work and I feel completely defeated, not just with work. But my goal is to be out by February, just not sure what to do. I end up getting targeted in literally every job I’ve had so I’m just not a huge fan of human beings at the moment. It’s very tiring 😒
mymelodywithaglock2 points7m ago
true, i’m quite done with this company myself and i’m at a licensed store! They keep preparing me for management but who knows if that will ever happen…not to mention holidays are the worst and it seems like i only blinked from last holiday working full time doing impossible shifts! It’s frustrating I get you. I’m probably just gonna waste away behind a desk somewhere instead, at least i can make more and basically do nothing but make phone calls all day. Not back breaking work on my disabled body , at least. Whatever job you find i hope it works out for you for awhile , and that you don’t dread going to work every day. Cheers 🥺

Wait so shes mad that the inside of the bag has a bit of cheese in it. Wait til she finds out the sandwich has cheese on it too...😱 lol some people are clowns. I don't give a shit what u are going thru or what kind of a day u had....but when u get physical with any employee especially one whos trying to help u, ur trash
melkorarose [OP]7 points7m ago
Yeah.. she really wanted a refund over cheese on the bag. And it luckily didn't hit him but she 100% threw it at him, confirmed by the car that was behind her.
Responsible_Snow71092 points7m ago
Unhinged clown. Thats messed up. Shes ok with doing that to another human but she seems like the type of person that would wana press charges if it were done to her. But no she matters more so she can do it because ur allowed to do whatever u want ....🙄
Like wtf thats what the sandwich/panini bags are for....to hold the food and make sure if anything comes out of a sandwich.....like CHEESE...then the bag will catch it.

Not at sbux, but when I worked in a restaurant I had a lady hurl her to-go container full of soup at me because we wouldn’t let her take home a restaurant spoon.
Longjumping_Future633 points7m ago
My new method is getting down their license plate # and putting in an incident report including that license plate # and a description of the customer. Things like that are considered assault, and you are very much able to press charges. I make sure to let every partner know that, and that at the very least, if they show up again, I will make sure they will not be serviced. I have stopped letting customers assault us over coffee and sandwiches, it's never that deep.
melkorarose [OP]2 points7m ago
Another shift told me we could've filed an incident report, but we didn't, we just made fun of her attitude and had our laughs and moved on. The shift that it was thrown at wasn't effected or hurt, just pissed for like 10 minutes that she had to be like that when he was being nice.
Longjumping_Future633 points7m ago
I can understand that perspective, I just personally believe if it becomes a pattern from this customer - or this customer returns at all - it's always important to have it on file. That incident is grounds for being banned from the store and refused service imo and no incident report means no record of this ever happening.

We had a woman throw her drink back today because it “wasn’t thick enough” (it was a Frappuccino)
