someone came in yesterday w/ a dunkin’ donuts cup and asked me to “remake it because he asked for it not to be sweet and it’s way too sweet”. I looked at him with the kindest confused face possible as i told him that’s a dunkin cup i cannot remake that. he tried telling me we’re owned by the same company but i insisted we’re not and that i couldn’t do anything about it. my shift said she saw people on tiktok doing it as a “hack”. are people really dumb enough to think that would work/fall for it ?

Starbucks needs to do something about these "hacks". Something needs to be addressed publicly or internally on how baristas and shifts go about responding to these kinds of requests, because it's beyond unreasonable, especially the "hack" where you say grande at the box then say venti at the window and complain when you don't get both drinks.

Mine does too, but one time I saw some one come back in to complain about their drink so we made them a new one and told her she could keep the old one. She takes both and then is celebrating in the lobby with her daughter like “it worked! They gave me both!” Now I take it back anyway

They probably think it works because it probably HAS worked somewhere. You know there are enough of us out there who will say yes to anything. And if not us, there are a lot of managers who will bend over backwards to please the customer even for stupid stuff like this. It’s enough where customers will feel emboldened to try it.
