Today's Tech Tip from your friendly Non-Retail IT guy. Network related issues are always escalated up to the Enterprise Help Desk. We all have partner numbers and a good many of us (myself included) have worked in the stores for a number of years. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Sometimes calling in tech issues can be frustrating because you're talking to a third party tech support vendor, but not retail network related issues! Those get sent straight to the in house IT team, we're mostly partners with a few contact workers (who still have partner numbers) and we're a lovely team that just wants to help out. We rarely have a long queue (except on Mondays and Saturdays).

I'm going to take it on myself to start posting little friendly tech tips here for baristas, common issues that can be easily fixed by you folks in store :) Leave a comment down below about any common tech issue you guys face and I'll get back to you with the first couple steps of troubleshooting you can perform in store.

Honestly the amount of power we have is nuts. Like if someone went rogue they could shut so much stuff off before anyone figured it out.

Our stores issues are with the technicians. Our mastrena breaks, they send someone out, the guy opens up the machine and says its fine. It's not fine. It is still broken.

Call back, worker says he fixed it. Oh it's still broken? Well let's send the same guy back. Guess what. It's still broken.

Ah dang yeah that was kind of my experience as an SSV as well.

When they say it's fine but it's really not fine.

You're amazing, thank you so much for posting this. My team is pretty solid, tbh I feel like my store sends them in for some bogus calls sometimes but they're always on it and professional.

I noticed this! Every time I call about network issues people are actually helpful! Any other tech issue and it’s a train wreck 😭

Yep! Network issues are sufficiently complicated to involve the "level two team" even though me and my colleagues are technically Tier 1 of the in house IT department.
