I HATE BLOG/INSTAGRAM/PINTEREST POSTS TALKING ABOUT THE STARBUCKS "SECRET MENU". (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Unfair-Talk176
As the title implies, I hate secret menu posts with the "creative" and "quirky" drinks.

There is not a secret menu.

I can't make you the Santa Clause Frappuccino because I don't know what that is. Just like I didn't know what the Hocus Pocus Frapp was months ago.

You cannot order Tiktok drinks and expect me to know what they are. I explain all the time that there is no secret menu, we are not trained for these social media concoctions, and if you can't tell me what's in it, you can't order it. AND if you get offended and RUDE because I don't know what made-up complicated-ass drink popped up on YOUR FYP, I will lose my friendly barista attitude.

It's been a long Sunday shift, lol.

don’t forget the barbie drink. people order like 4 of them at a time :/

The best part of this is the instructions say to order a "vanilla creme" which is explicitly a HOT DRINK.
Decent-Marionberry63 22 points 7m ago
And 99.9% of the time the drinks aren’t even good! They end up paying ~$10 for a cup of sugar
IronKokomo 7 points 7m ago
They’re all like the drinks I made in my first week of marking stuff out, lol. “What happens if I throw all the sugars in one frapp?”

"I want the tower frap."

"I'm sorry, what drink is that?"

"The tower frap." Rolls eyes at her friend in disgust for me not knowing what that drink was. "You know, *the tower frap!"*

"No, sorry I don't know that one. If you have the recipe I can see if I can make it for you."

"Ugh, never mind." Love that it was totally my fault I had no idea what this drink was. No, it is not a Starbucks recipe Girly. I don't know non-SB recipes.

In comparison, I had someone order a snickerdoodle hot chocolate, which I do know WAS an official recipe at some point, but still just don't remember it. She was very understanding though, and looked it up. Nice lady, no problems making her drink.

snickerdoodle hot chocolate you say?? whats the recipe? that sounds amazing
ILICKTREEZx3 5 points 7m ago
It was half white mocha, half cinnamon dolce I think. It was a while ago, but it was good!

The hocus pocus frapp was an absolute PAIN to make when someone gave me the recipe for it two years ago… golden ginger AND matcha powder on top of the whip cream…🤢 it was the most disgusting drink I ever made…
Unfair-Talk176 [OP] 8 points 7m ago
EW that sounds terrible. Luckily, i never had to make one bc anyone that ordered it literally couldn’t tell
me what was in it 🤦‍♀️

I don't understand people ordering drinks that they don't have a general idea of what's in it. So like, I get it if they can't list the ingredients in a Honey Citrus Mint Tea, but it's self explanatory what kind of flavors are in it. But a Hocus Pocus frapp??? I can't even take an educated guess.

I had some girl show me a snapshot of a tik tok recipe. No drink name. It was just a snapshot of the recipe. It said: venti vanilla cream cold brew (so 3 pumps vanilla and sweet cream poured in) and 3 pumps raspberry then whipped cream on top but also dragon fruit inclusions in the drink and on top of the whipped cream.

I kept asking her questions and she didnt kno how to answer cuz she said they were for someone else. I asked if she can call the person and ask them the questions i had but she didnt (idk why) and so i made em as the recipe showed. Then i take it to her and show her and i ask "does this look right?" She still didnt kno and showed me the recipe picture again and the bottom caption of the tik tok screenshot says "frappuccino" so i had to redo them and i was 15 minutes late to clocking out.

Because my manager came over to take over bar and i was still trying to figure out the drinks and my manager took over hot bar while i finished this stupid shit and she was aware that i clocked out 15 minutes later than my intended time. It was annoying.

Managers who really have their sh\*t together would've told you to clock out and took care of it themselves or asked another partner support. Or double checked that you didn't mind staying a few to finish those. Sometimes I WANT to help finish up a task like that, and one of my SSVs will still shoo me off the clock. The only exceptions I think would be if you all were shortstaffed or if bar was already behind several minutes and there were customers who had already been waiting.

I know Sbux is notorious for keeping people past their scheduled time but these are my personal expectations lol
Responsible_Snow7109 1 points 7m ago
Oh yea like she didnt even ask me if its cool if i stay to finish the drinks. She didnt check in with me
I just told her what was goin on with the 2 drinks and she said shes guna take hot bar while i finish those up so i was just like 🧍‍♀️🙃

starbucks wont crack down on the poor behavior of customers (and barista recipe makers) because corporate entities refuse to enter stores for anything other than pre-meditated check ups.

if these people saw the disrespect that their "third place" must tolerate on the daily, they'd shut stores down and reconfigure the bar.

all the corporate sluts see is that they're selling these crazy expensive drinks with crazy mods and ~oh look free third-party social media advertising~ and ~oh we must be earning so much~... the reality is that these drinks must be remade over and over because the tiktok recipes require standards to be broken. additionally, the recipes are often wrong or poorly translated, causing customers to get angry when trying to communicate what they want.

these customers come to starbucks hoping to be made drinks that aren't on the menu. it's ridiculous.

personally, i would never enter a business with the attitude that these people bring.

it's best to treat these customers with caution bc the people who order these drinks are never "all there" mentally. so sad :(

Everything else you said was pretty reasonable but this I fear is a reach
