there’s a few ssvs at my store who have very limited availability because they work fulltime jobs elsewhere! it all depends on what your store needs, but it doesn’t hurt to ask/apply!

i became a barista trainer a few months before i became an ssv and i think having that experience first was very beneficial for me, so i would consider letting that play out for a while first. it’s kinda like being a mini shift with a couple people, learning how to coach, time management, being the person they report to, important things with being a shift. also like another commenter said, your work/life balance will change and it’s an entirely new perspective and experience with the job and if you’re doing school full time i think that’s important to consider. not trying to stray you away from it, but i think out of all the jobs i’ve had this one has been the most mentally taxing, and if you’re comfortable as a barista financially and sbux isn’t a career for you i think it would be good to keep this stuff in mind

Once you start devloping they make it very difficult to stop. I thought if i didnt like it I could step down and transfer back to my local store, but that turns out to not be the case. Transfer denied, and every time theres a PDC its "were looking for ASM/SM. No? We'll follow up in 6 months" and its a lot of pressure.
Its not the worst gig, just be certain you want to do it first and consider that your work/life balance will change and be confident in your capacity to handle stress. Its a huge change of perspective, and its easy to get caught up in it. Its no longer "Just coffee" its team management, the enviroment, metrics, cash handling, CSR, inventory.... a lot.
