Credit card tips question (self.starbucksbaristas)

My SM just told us that credit card tips are not split equally amongst everyone but instead, more of the tip money will be given to the people who work on busier days. As someone who doesn’t trust the siren as much as I can hold her hand, it makes me wonder if there is any benefit for the higher ups by doing this instead of just splitting them how the cash tips are already split. Any thoughts or am I reading to much into it?

The tips made that day are split between the people who worked that day, not weekly. Cash tips are handled and split weekly. Therefor, if you work Friday Saturday Sunday you’re more likely to get better tips. I’m so glad they did this as someone who works weekends

And how would the “higher ups” benefit from ANYTHING having to do with tips? They don’t even get tips you’re thinking about this too hard

I can tell you that if they take a single cent they will face a lawsuit so I don’t see how the higher ups could benefit in any way from our tips.

As it is a brand new system I don’t think the higher ups actually thought it through that far., but in theory that way would benefit the low man on the totem pole better than the other system. The other thought is that it would be easier to distribute a day versus a weeks worth.
