i’ve accidentally poured steamed milk onto my hand because I was trying to connect with customers, and my focus was on them. Would not recommend. tbh ASMs/SMs are never going to be happy about the cc score, just act friendly and say thank you/have a good day and that’s all you can do from there really 🤷♂️

trying to connect on bar is so difficult but if you're on cafe bar and have the time, its at least something to pay attention to if you're handing out someone's last drink or their only drink and specifically say have a good day or hope you enjoy or WHATEVER when they grab it, and saying hi and have a good day to mobile order customers when they come in.

I'll call out the name of the guest's name on the sticker and announce to them that I'm working on their drink now or next or whenever. They usually approach the bar once they hear their name. Then I just talk to them. Hey, how's it going, give a sincere compliment or ask a question, offer them complimentary whipped cream or cinnamon powder on top of their drink (if the drink would still be good with either addition), wish them a good day and safe travels.
Next sticker, rinse and repeat.
And a good way to connect on warming is to welcome everyone in and even ask your register line if anyone is getting anything to eat and start warming and bagging it while they're in line. I write or draw something on the pastry/warming bag and warming support walks it over to them by the time they're up next to the register.
