Starbucks is so out of touch... (self.starbucksbaristas)

The "free refill" tumbler that is a grande size... is $80 in Canada. What the coffee loving hell?

Nobody is going to pay that. That's twice the price of a normal tumbler. They were expensive at $40, then super expensive at $60... this just wow.

That's $90 after tax in Ontario.

At this point it’s like not even worth the money for the refills being free. The cup is just as if not more expensive than coming in every single day and buying a coffee. My coworkers saw it while putting merch up and were appalled at the price before I told them it came with free refills in Jan. But again not like that makes it much better. It’s insane

exactly. your grande pike is 2.85 in canada, that’s $85 for a month. and then you get a plastic cup for $5 i guess??

even if i drank drip coffee every day that’s not worth it for me lmfao cause what if i miss a day? tumbler isn’t even cute either

It's for the people who like drinking regular coffee every day.
You get a pike everyday, by January 25 you've gotten your money's worth.
If you get it refilled twice a day youll get it faster. Let's be honest, someone who drinks coffee more than likely drinks more than 1 cup a day.

It's not for collectors. It has a more practical use.

tumbler is only good for one drink a day though if someone actually enforces it
Danny_z64 5 points 7m ago
How do you enforce it if a guy walks in. How do u know he wasn't at another store a couple hours ago
ConsequenceOk2590 4 points 7m ago
You have to input a code and scan the purchasers app
sunflower-a 0 points 7m ago
you can't necessarily know that, but its likely that the cup is dirty and you can't accept used cups, or if they've been sitting in the cafe for awhile and trying to get another

You can't disniss my hypothetical situation while acting as yours is most likely going to happen.
First day guy gets denied a second cup, next day just hits up 2 starbucks. Asks for a cup of water at the first store to rinse out cup. OR goes to bathroom to rinse out cup.

Or sits in Cafe in AM. Works on their script on laptop, is polite and goes to rinse out cup after peak. Different group of people, mid shift.

I've never had a hand off where it's been "ok so peak was good, we got bathrooms done, we pulled trashes. Oh, see that guy in the white? He already got a cup of coffee, that's shady he's still here"

I know how it works but it still doesn't justify the price and most people aren't going to see it that way. Then we'll have to listen to them complain.
Danny_z64 3 points 7m ago
All the info is on the display

Why would they complain?

I've had no one complain about it because all the information is literally right there or I, you know, point at it.

Why would they complain?

It's not a pretty cup.

Why would they complain instead of...just...not buying it?

Ha ha... You must have perfect customers. The ones at my store complain about everything.
