i’m still a fairly new partner and i’m not sure if this is considered normal but i was originally scheduled to work on christmas eve and christmas day (a total of 10 hours) and those were my only hours for that week. now i’ve mentioned to my SM and AM that i’ve been wanting more hours and they just haven’t been giving me anymore, okay cool i’ll deal. now this is where i think it gets unfair, i have a coworker who’s transferring and she offered to give me the shifts she wouldn’t be able to work because she’s leaving next week. i picked up three extra days on the week of christmas which made a total of 22.50 hours that week. the morning after, i check my schedule and see they removed my christmas eve and christmas day hours, leaving me with only 12.50 hours. is this reason for me to talk to my manager? it’s unfair how they won’t schedule me more hours and the moment i begin picking up shifts, they start removing my original hours.

I was told that once the schedule has been posted, they cannot modify it without approaching you first b/c it is highly unethical. You should definitely talk to your AM (I’m assuming they’re in charged of the scheduling at the moment) and ask why they took it off? And if they’re asking you to work one or the other, might be best to take your original shift as you get paid more on Christmas day. But I don’t see a reason why you can’t work all five shifts on that week.

i didn’t know ab the approaching us first! they’re always switching around my schedule and i figured it was a normal thing :/ thank you, i’ll try talking to them as soon as i see them.

I got that info from word of mouth so I’m not 100% sure if it’s policy (check Partner Handbook) but I had a similar situation where my shift was modified — cut by 3h — and I approached the ASM at the time that I wasn’t notified before the changes were made to a posted schedule and he had put it back as it were and made excuses. Knowing your rights help!
I hope it works out but honestly, try reaching out to other managers in your area and send them an email! Ask if you can take up shifts at their store if they need a shift covered, you never know, you might end up liking it there and transfer.

thats retaliation.
Suspicious-Crystal2 points7m ago
Retaliation for what?
clouds18319 points7m ago
for picking up shifts. they can’t take away a shift because you picked up another one. thats limiting your hours for no valid reason. you have a right to claim shifts on marketplace.

That's an interesting definition of retaliation. But I agree it's a dick move fo' sho.

That’s lame. You were better off working the Christmas shift getting time and a half.

You're not overreacting, what they did is messed up. Talk to your SM and ask why, or go to PRSC or your DM.
