Do I need a reason to call out if I found coverage for a shift tomorrow? (self.starbucksbaristas)

No, just trade the shift on partner hours, and/or text your manager to let them know you’ll be swapping

I'd agree with some of the others, you already have the shift covered it shouldn't really matter to your manager as long as someone is working the shift. But you can always say it's due to personal reasons or something and don't wish to elaborate any further.

Yep like the only thing I can think of is the SM perhaps needs to make sure it’s not covid exposure for others, but aside from that they don’t need to know anything aside from it’s covered.

I did and they’re asking me why I’m calling out

“I had something come up and so and so is covering my shift.” I’ve had so many times where I just give up a shift because another partner is looking for hours, it’s ridiculous that your SM would need a reason.

you don't have to provide a reason beyond saying you had something personal come up!!

probably depends on the manager's personal preference but you don't really have to explain, especially if you got it covered. my manager is super lax and literally doesn't care the why so long as it is covered. (they care in a "how can i help" way but they won't be offended if you were just like "i didn't want to work, so i got it covered").

but yeah for those "why do you need it covered" ones, you can just give a vague "something came up that I need to prioritize right now". you can even use your vacation to make up for those hours you lost. (in some states, you can use sick time too!)
