What’s your starbies unpopular opinion??? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Mine is that they need to bring the pineapple ginger syrup back, that shit was soooooooo good

That using a forced, overly chipper customer service voice and mode is nauseating. Some people are just naturally like that, but mostly it is forced. No wonder you are exhausted! Start a genuine culture of being real. This forced shit is why we have an abysmal work culture at Starbucks with all this fakeness, ass kissing, and expected yes manning and no actual challenging of the status quo! Oh, and bring back Chile Mocha and Pineapple Green smoothies!
eliettgrace 23 points 7m ago
everytime i use my regular voice instead of my customer service voice people always think i’m being rude when i’m reality my actual voice is lower pitched
aspiringgrandpa 6 points 7m ago
yup i’ve been coached on being ‘aggressive’ when i literally just talk normally
IcyColdBrew 1 points 7m ago
That is a serious symptom of the American Retail Culture disease!
BatWeary 1 points 7m ago
me too, especially over the headsets
promisestorm 5 points 7m ago
agreed on the chipper point. i dont try to do that because people can tell when its fake. when i’m myself i feel much better and i actually make way more connections, unforced.
joviante 3 points 7m ago
had one of my regulars tell me i sounded “utterly depressed” when my voice dropped
chainsofgold 3 points 7m ago
i put effort into being cheerful and friendly on monday and still got yelled at by a customer until i cried. nah back to being quiet, polite, and slightly distant i need to conserve my energy
geekgurl81 2 points 7m ago
I can’t. When I don’t use my customer service voice people think I’m mad. Every time.
lolsorryfam 54 points 7m ago
id rather make a frap than a refresher
Luna_1406 8 points 7m ago
I must agree
cocoabutterkissez 5 points 7m ago
omg no id take refreshers any day
Hot-Independence8670 5 points 7m ago
YESSS.
geekgurl81 4 points 7m ago
Especially in the summer when there are 40 in every order AND the inclusions are all stuck together with the humidity.
durqandat 37 points 7m ago
I genuinely don’t mind orders that are modded to hell. It’s a fun little puzzle trying to work out what’s going on in their little heads

I had a customer ask me to make her a suprise drink, she was very nice about it and the cafe was empty, so I agreed. I wasn't really looking at what I was putting in but she came back to counter a couple minutes later and was curious as to how she could ask for it next time at another Starbucks, she made my day fr
(It was a venti iced oat chai made with 7 pumps chai, 2 pumps vanilla, 1 scoops of vbean powder, shaken with cinnamon, topped with salted caramel cold foam) i might try this someday 😭 but i felt bad when I had to send it over to bar
Drakeslostson1 8 points 7m ago
This shit like 10$ tho 😭
ThiccOpossumDude 9 points 7m ago
😭😭 she mentioned price wasn't an issue, I was just trynna get that customer connection.
chainsofgold 8 points 7m ago
ngl it’s kind of fun … not during peak tho
AndrewtheRey 13 points 7m ago
I think the cold brew protein shakes were delicious
Lcolecrochet 11 points 7m ago
Ooooooh thems fightin’ words
butterflymomo 9 points 7m ago
they get rid of the tastiest stuff and replace it with the worstttt stuff. some of the things i miss most: white tea, berry hibiscus, cool lime refresher, pineapple ginger, spicy chorizo sandwich, chicken biscuit sandwich, holiday panini, peppermint brownie cake pop, etc, etc, etc.... every other new refresher, sandwich, syrup they've come out with has been a FLOP
iStealSharpies [OP] 3 points 7m ago
Ughhhhh I dream about the chicken biscuit
butterflymomo 2 points 7m ago
literally mourn it every day

frapps strike fear into my heart every time i pull one, they’re so complicated and every single one is different :’)
Hot-Independence8670 11 points 7m ago
girl just memorize the base recipe for a coffee frap and then you got it!!

frap roast - milk - pour in blender - coffee base - ice

and then any other coffee based fraps are the exact same, with the addition of the syrup! (mocha gets mocha ofc, crcf gets dark caramel, caramel gets caramel, etc)

id say the only thing that confused me when i first learned was remembering which fraps were layered, but the way that helped me was that it’s just the two with the most complicated names (caramel ribbon crunch and mocha cookie crumble)

don’t be scared to mess up or ask questions, i didn’t know the mocha cookie crumble got frap chips until like 5 months in 😅😅
northernelis 2 points 7m ago
I only learned a few weeks ago that regular caramel fraps get caramel syrup and not DC sauce 🥲
skylikeslemonade 5 points 7m ago
i rlly just read DC as dinnamon colce
geekgurl81 5 points 7m ago
This is exactly why in my head cinnamon dolce is cindol instead of CD because my brain can’t hold onto CD vs DC very well.
skylikeslemonade 1 points 7m ago
thank you you’re an angel 💗💗
geekgurl81 2 points 7m ago
I actually love cold bar and think fraps are way easier than hot drinks because they all fit the formula, and it turns into muscle memory so much faster. I’m so much more confident on cold bar. I’ve been with SB a for 10 months, and 6 weeks of that was maternity leave, plus I didn’t do a lot of bar in the later months of my pregnancy because I could sit when needed at drive. It takes a little bit for sure but it finally clicked for me and now I’m really confident on cold bar. Still working on hot bar confidence though.

The customer connection score is the wrong way to measure customer satisfaction. It truly needs to be completely revamped or adjusted to be more flexible. Not only should EVERY SINGLE starbucks rewards customer receive a survey, but also selecting “agree” shouldn’t negatively hurt a score.

It’s outdated, inefficient, inaccurate, and just plain stupid.

Oh also, the everything bagel? Tasteless and unworthy of an everything bagel status.
jessicaawelcher 3 points 7m ago
I actually love doing the pay it forward trains in drive, it makes so many people happy and overall I have to press like two extra buttons. I think it’s fun
dnims24 4 points 7m ago
I really like it as well. The only thing for me is it can sometimes confuse which order is next for me personally if I’m soloing drive lol
sagansaid7 1 points 7m ago
Dude yes!! I loved the pineapple ginger syrup but it seems like all my coworkers hated it
Vegetable-Rain7652 1 points 7m ago
Cold foam is DISGUSTING!
