I don’t think my SM likes me… (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Witty-Bowler9493
I genuinely loved working here. I do see most posts here that rant about the company and the job; and all that is valid but, I was one of the few people who for whatever reason found solace in work. But recently, things have been tense at our store due to a certain incident (not involving anyone who is still at the store) and I have come to notice that my manager clearly plays favourites and does not even try to hide that they prefer a certain bunch of partners more than the others. Ranges from buying them lunches, to offering them extra hours. It is hard to explain what it is but some of us feel left out and alienated from them. It is mostly passive indifference in contrast to the special mentions and interactions they choose to have with the few partners they prefer over the others. Feels like they started showing their true colours once the Partner Satisfaction Survey was filled up by everyone.

Not sure if my job is safe even though I have not been written up yet. I don’t wanna disclose certain incidents that have made me think this way due to privacy reasons. Wondering if I should look into transferring stores.

I have a philosophy that serves me, but wouldn’t serve everyone: get in, do my job, get out. Absolutely NO involvement with internal politics.

My SM is pretty good. I’m one of the few people getting steady (and sometimes increased) hours. Partly because I make myself available at any time, and partly because I’m known to be reliable.

The only relationship I care about is with my SM. I regularly ask her to give me feedback if she has any. I don’t care about any other relationships in the store. I don’t take sides. I keep to myself.

I’m here to do a job, not make friends.
