Outsider question: Why are Starbucks managers working with corporate against unionization? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Not a barista, just a fan!
I was reading a recent unionizing post and got to thinking: Why wouldn't the managers, leads etc in the stores be with the other employees? I can understand the district not being for it, but it seems everyone at the store level is over worked.
Is it just the fear of losing stability? When I managed a pizza place, I was always fighting for my employees to get that $0.10 extra an hour, approved for vacations, anything to keep them happy and make things run smoother.
