Who else loves working doubles?!(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by IndustrySerious
I’ve never worked a “double” before coming to Starbucks! I’m in college and come home on the weekends to work at my store. I need money an stuff and now every time people call out, they know that I would love to stay and stay till closing. My store opens at 7:30 so I usually open at 7 and if I stay till closing it’s after 9. I worked one today and i usually feel the side effects from drinking different coffees at about 5-6. I kept asking this lady what she wanted and I was like I’m so sorry, I hear you but it’s not registering in my head, it’s been a long day and she totally understood!

This isn’t normal..Starbucks is super strict about OT and going over your intended, scheduled time. Why does your store have you doing this? Are you severely understaffed? (Aren’t most stores?)

Yeah!! I wasn’t expecting to work one today but people called out and tomorrow I was supposed to open but too many people called out so we’re gonna open the store at 1:30 and close at 6. I’m only getting 16 hours working the weekends and I’m basically covering one person technically so it shouldn’t be bad.

Just please don’t wear yourself too thin! You are more than welcome to say no when they ask you to stay longer or come in. I’m just afraid you’ll start to be taken advantage of. Take care of yourself!

Thank youuu!! Usually I’ll ask to stay or like today they asked if anyone wanted extra hours! I think this is my 3-4 time doing it but I also have a high college payment plan to pay for every month so I can use all the hours I can get! But thanks for your concern ☺️☺️ I really like working here and if it was another job I would say no 😂

I’ve worked a double a couple times and honestly after that 5th coffee drink of the day it kind of just blends ur whole day into nothing

Oh, yeah, those can be brutal. I worked a 5a-9p once, and although I fully intend to do it again, it sucked.

I used to work doubles all the time at my old job. I’d never do it for sb though, a 6 hour shift has me ready for a grippy sock vacation
