We had two people come in to our drive-through(same car) and they said they wanted their caramel drizzle and mocha drizzle Cali-style. On top of that they’re like, “we want extra extra extra”. So I gave them exactly what they wanted. And I could tell that they’re never ordering that style of drizzle again.
I knew this was going to be a internet drink before they even ordered it. I could see them literally regret their decisions after I handed them exactly what they wanted.
How would you have dealt with this?
Note: they were listening to the Instagram vid as they were ordering in drive.

Good on you, nothing like bursting their bubble lol. Wtf is cali style anyways?

Caramel ALong Inside i believe, so caramel drizzle along the sides of the cup

I work in California and we have a button that says “line cup caramel” do y’all have that button??
badatlife1519 points7m ago
We all do, this came about before that button existed and often when people are asking for it they want more than what “line the cup” technically is. Line the cup is 3 rings around the cup, cali style or caramel walls is usually they want no clear space completely covered by caramel.

Essentially the caramel should be so caked on that after the shots you can still see the caramel residue on the sides, kinda nasty ngl

I work in Cali and occasionally I get people asking for a "golden cup"
uwumoment3 points7m ago
it’s both caramel and mocha i thought ?
edit: wait i may have misunderstood what cali style meant then. i did put a lot but i didn’t know it was covering the cup, i thought it meant just caramel and mocha

I'd have said "im so sorry, cali style isn't part of our menu"
And waited for their reply.

That’s what I told them. They were confused. I told them “I’m not sure what Cali style is” 😵💫😒
Suspicious-Crystal12 points7m ago
After that statement, the next person to talk, loses. Tell me you didn't speak next! Lol
zambiers [OP]7 points7m ago
I didnt. But they were so persistent.
Suspicious-Crystal7 points7m ago
Aren't they all?

Lol thats what i say when people ask for tik tok drinks by name. A girl yesterday came in and tried to order the barbie frappuccino and we all collectively said at my store that we don't kno what that is. I kno one of my coworkers had to have known cuz they all use tik tok 😈 but good on them and i was so happy they said what they said lol so the girl ended up just getting an iced peppermint mocha

The thing is, I told them if they have like an actual recipe or like a picture that they could show us at window but they’re like “ no it’s from Instagram”. Even when I took the payment, I told them that not everything that you see on the Internet we are able to make just because the recipes could be different, depending on who sees what, so they always have to give us a recipe.
Responsible_Snow71091 points7m ago
Yea i dont understand why they think we would be knowledgeable and trained on a random name someone calls a drink on social media. And they say "no its from instagram" as if that has any correlation to the situation. It doesnt matter where the drink is from or where u saw it on, grab a recipe. Idk how they think we would know all the social media trends. If its not a menu item, we need to kno how to make it. We dont get trained on our complicated menu and then even more training to remember social media recipes too. I cringe everytime im on bar and i hear a customer ask for a drink by a social media name
zambiers [OP]12 points7m ago
Honestly I have no idea. I didn’t even wanted to ask but I guess it’s like “extra extra extra” as they were trying to order it 🤔 Best part was I could hear them listening to the video as they were trying to order.
uwumoment5 points7m ago
lmfaoo i remember when someone ordered this i was so confused. had to ask them to show me a pic and saw it was caramel and mocha, almost gagged making the caramel crunch with extra everything drink

Think I made a tall mocha cookie crumble like that. Or maybe it was a tall caramel ribbon crunch. Either way, I was really tempted to offset all that sugar with a couple shots. Just looking at it made my teeth hurt.
