this isn’t like rlly bad lol but for some reason i’ve been to multiple locations where i have ordered the chocolate cream cold brew and i’ve asked them to sub vanilla for hazelnut and they tell me “there’s actually no vanilla in the cold brew but we can add hazelnut!” and i just stand there like 😐 okay thanks! bc i don’t wanna be a bitch but like guys yes there is 😩
quirky-nugget [OP] 144 points 7m ago
Ahhhh, they probably looked at you like you were crazy too 💀💀
I’ve come to learn that Starbucks partners are either the nicest people on the planet, or the most pretentious group of people.
MasterMischievous 3 points 7m ago
Did you gather that from working at Starbucks or being on Starbucks Reddit lol
laughingashley 6 points 7m ago
Reddit has taught me that names are misspelled often because partners misspell *everything* lol
Responsible_Snow7109 43 points 7m ago
Do they not see it on the right side of the register? Lol
nicolelynnejones 40 points 7m ago
i ordered a vanilla sweet cream cold brew with no vanilla, sub chestnut praline at a Tarbucks recently and their response was “what does that mean” like bestie 😭😭
Hot-Independence8670 11 points 7m ago
i will never go to my local tarbucks again…. so inconsistent
norawrote 9 points 7m ago
I work at a Tarbucks and feel you! Not sure why consistency is not a higher priority.
Hot-Independence8670 5 points 7m ago
i think the issue with the one by my house is they always seem SO understaffed and have a pretty high turnover rate. on weeks that i’ve stopped at target several times, at least once they’ll be closed “due to unforeseen circumstances” which i’m assuming is that they have no one to work. everytime i’ve gone it’s a different barista i’ve never seen before and they always seem new :( so i don’t blame them but it is a bummer because the nearest corporate store from me is 20 minutes away
swagfrenchfry 1 points 7m ago
i hate tarbucks
BlindHIllCorpse -2 points 7m ago
probably just trying to help you save your breath the next time you order
laughingashley 2 points 7m ago
.... by charging for a syrup that already comes in it?
BlindHIllCorpse 1 points 7m ago
oop misread lol. Thought you just said normal cold brew lmfao
GreenTourmaline13 101 points 7m ago
I know some of yall hate ice in nitros, and that's legit, but I tried ordering tall nitro grande cup w ice and the barista explained she couldn't do that bcs "it would make the cold brew explode if we add ice" and I just..... told her I drank it every day lmao
Cinnamonvirgo 45 points 7m ago
explode?? LMFAOOO
GreenTourmaline13 12 points 7m ago
I know. I was dumbstruck.
Ceramicusedbook 18 points 7m ago
It would make the cold brew EXPLODE?! 😂 What?
GreenTourmaline13 8 points 7m ago
I still think about this all the time.
Next_Resolution_3889 14 points 7m ago
I-

It would make our KEGS/COLD BREW MACHINE explode if y’all don’t stir the fuck out of that ice and it gets into the lines. 😭

(That’s what I was told don’t come for me)
Few_Conclusion_8824 7 points 7m ago
Omg that’s insane how far some baristas are willing to go to not out ice in nitros. Like one if you’re making the keg rights there’s a little ice in there already
syddsmiles1024 5 points 7m ago
You know…I was told this when it first came out. Isnt the ice how they did those fancy nitro bombs?
Hot-Independence8670 0 points 7m ago
LMAOOO
rtsneedshelp 77 points 7m ago
I had to stop going to licensed locations 💀 I know they’re often understaffed/undertrained but i can’t justify paying full price and having my boring very simple drink wrong every time.
imnotcalmable 17 points 7m ago
I worked at both and I can tell you there are certain times where I wouldn’t get a drink at my own licensed location depending on who was working bar.
eliettgrace 5 points 7m ago
i had an employee i would absolutely not get a drink from. if i came in to get a drink, it was in the afternoon. i gotta quit this job
hecaete47 17 points 7m ago
I had a Target Starbucks give me the tiniest drop of VSCCF, when I ordered & paid for EXTRA, who argued that’s how they do it there 💀 like pls just let me have my overpriced whipped cream.
Ceramicusedbook 44 points 7m ago
I had to have my drink remade 3 times at one, and they tried to tell me there is no double chocolaty chip frapp on the menu, they dont make tiktok drinks without a recipe...

"It's a core drink. Its under blended. Double chocolaty chip frapp. Every Starbucks has it."

"It's not on the menu board. We don't make that. Do you have the recipe? We can't make tiktok drinks without a recipe."

They're a licensed store that regular store employees just fill in at but STILL.
alexkerie 7 points 7m ago
this would send me into orbit, i would be clenching my fists so bad 🥲
Ceramicusedbook 1 points 7m ago
I was not amused lol I was getting it for my 7 year old and reeeeeally didn't trust them to make a creme Java chip frapp without using the coffee emulsifier base.
TheOnesLeftBehind 8 points 7m ago
The coffee emulsifier base doesn’t have coffee in it, it’s just a different sugar to water ratio. Only the froast has coffee.
Ceramicusedbook 1 points 7m ago
It tastes like coffee. I wasn't worried about caffeine. I was worried about the coffee flavour.
cora388 37 points 7m ago
ordered a HCMT, they got confused and was like “do u mean the MEDICINE BALL???” like yeah sure. then they didn’t make it with lemonade or honey 🥲
crowhusband 24 points 7m ago
bro what 😭 thats like ordering a latte and they forget the milk
alexkerie 15 points 7m ago
i **hate** when some partners do that. starbucks really needs to put that on a weekly update.

*then again, bold of me to assume everyone reads it, that’s another issue*
Chromosomes23 3 points 7m ago
I feel like the stores having all the issues don’t even know where to find it or what it is.
legallysamantha 13 points 7m ago
LOL the medicine ball gets me annoyed. It's a HCMT. It says so on the app and the info card we get so use the proper wording staff. Jeeezzz
Epona_02 33 points 7m ago
yeah if all 4 of you paid separately but i had to type your numbers in each time i’d be miffed too
quirky-nugget [OP] 3 points 7m ago
If they were busy, of course I wouldn’t do all that. But again, they literally had nothing to do. All we were doing was interrupt a gossip session.
Epona_02 28 points 7m ago
the rest of their behavior was completely out of pocket for sure, but knowing that a fellow barista made me go through all that extra fiddling with the register, regardless of business, would be mildly annoying. They should have kept it together and been professional
astivana 27 points 7m ago
I would be irritated, too, especially since partner numbers are only supposed to be used if the partner is buying. I don’t care if it’s one transaction. If they’re making me ring up for separate orders like that so they can break policy, I’mma say something.
quirky-nugget [OP] -5 points 7m ago
If it is against policy, they could have said that. But they didn’t. Probably because they do it at their own store too. It being against policy is one thing. I wouldn’t have done that during peak, or if there were a few customers sitting inside. The point is, it was dead inside. If it were me, being given something to do would have made the shift flow by easier rather than not. I just think they wanted a reason to complain to make the shift go by faster, and that’s all it was.
legallysamantha 16 points 7m ago
^This. We know how frustrating it can be to do all this so why do that to another batista, busy or not. Their behavior is uncalled for, but slight push back makes sense.
feistybugs 3 points 7m ago
can u guys not just scan ur app and get the discount immediately? i’m so confused why ur # has to be given
filmphotographywhore 33 points 7m ago
Not a different Starbucks, but I went to my store on my day off (for background, I was just starting as a trainer at the time), and was told that my trainee was on bar.. I had just started training them on DTO, so they have yet to have any formal bar training.. Idk why my SM put them on bar, but c’est la via. I ordered an iced matcha latte with raspberry. The first sip I took I realized they put espresso in it, my trainee thought that Matcha lattes was an actual latte.. 😅

We started bar training the next day..
stunky420 9 points 7m ago
What the hell? Why would they get put on bar that’s wild
bellamythos 3 points 7m ago
speaking as an SSV, sometimes baristas get scheduled as coverage and the playcaller doesn’t realize they haven’t finished training yet so they might even have thought they were doing a good thing by giving the green bean some bar time (though at our store we always make sure to check what they’ve been trained on & where they’d be comfortable).

but the SM should’ve not just been aware of but actually made the green bean’s training plan, so they should’ve known better for sure!
stunky420 1 points 7m ago
Thanks for the info! I know I definitely got put on bar pretty early, but my training papers got thrown away by my SM. I hoped I was an exception lmao
BlindHIllCorpse -2 points 7m ago
almost like learning bar is part of training... wild
stunky420 6 points 7m ago
Without having any bar training tho? Without their trainer there?
Anakins-girl 5 points 7m ago
Lol I did this my very first matcha latte 😭
Late_Pomelo_999 3 points 7m ago
At least they didn’t steam the milk
babieecuuhz 2 points 7m ago
Bless thier heart ☺️
TemperatureHuman7963 33 points 7m ago
One time a barista tried to tell me I couldn’t have extra base in my strawberry açaí because it was already mixed with the water and I was like ??? No it’s not- how would you make the pink drink or the lemonade one if it was. I didn’t stay there and argue but I was really annoyed. She was a shift supervisor too I believe.
coffee-and-chillll 19 points 7m ago
Maybe they misunderstood because the strawberry 4x base has to be diluted with water and stored in a pitcher, whereas the old strawberry açaí base wasn’t diluted with water and could be used directly from the box? But still that’s a major misunderstanding lol, makes me think they were giving out strawberry açaí refreshers without the added water that’s usually in the standard build…yikes
TemperatureHuman7963 7 points 7m ago
No I literally tried to explain that and she insisted. I was like “I know you dilute it with water when you first put it in the pitcher” but she insisted you don’t mix it with water at all which was super annoying
coffee-and-chillll 12 points 7m ago
Yikes…I’m so concerned about that for many reasons lol. Also why was she wanting to fight a fellow partner so much? When partners come into my store I feel like we have an unspoken bond because we work the same job, so I try to be extra courteous, but she sounds extremely rude and extremely wrong about correct drink builds. I’m sorry you had to experience that :/ I’d imagine she’s not a joy to work with either lol
Adept_Pangolin_3165 31 points 7m ago
i feel like everyone just needs training again
hecaete47 18 points 7m ago
I think the issue is training is very intense compared to other fast food restaurants & drink build standards can change like when the double shot was removed & replaced with the shaken espresso. So then even longtime partners make mistakes.
legallysamantha 8 points 7m ago
Omg it is super intense! I mean, once you realize most hot drinks are the same situation, I.e. 4 pumps for a grande, steamed milk, 2 shots then either whip or some sort of topping you good. But it took me 6 months to learn Frapps because I started in winter and never had to make them. Also, they changed the way we setup our staff on the floor while I was working there and it confused EVERYONE. Even the shifts and SM.
quirky-nugget [OP] 4 points 7m ago
10000000000% agree
Firm-Ant7684 29 points 7m ago
One store in a different state refused to give me my discount but it was literally built into my app so idk why they couldn’t just press yes and let it discount me. Another store that’s actually in my district kept marking out my stuff instead of doing my discount so I had to stop going there because whenever I said something it seemed like I made them mad about it. I’m all about getting a free drink and sandwich but not if it can cost me my job.
Froggy-of-the-butt 10 points 7m ago
Actually had a store refuse to discount me once because the barista refused to believe I worked at Starbucks. Had to go get my apron from my car and show them.
Firm-Ant7684 8 points 7m ago
It’s wild to me tbh. Like if my partner numbers are working and you have any suspicion just ask for my ID if you’re really trying to follow policy or get rid of your suspicions. Sorry that happened to you that’s so inconvenient. I usually ask for the name of the person if it’s a partner of another store and if they say the full name without hesitation then it’s fine. I’ve never had anyone hesitate though 😭
honey_bay 24 points 7m ago
whenever i order a bsose at the store closest to my house they shake it with the oatmilk and it’s so sad
cora388 12 points 7m ago
i never understand why ppl shake with milk man it’s a shaken espresso not a shaken latte 😭
poopman16 21 points 7m ago
before i started working at my current store i would go in every so often because the SM was trying to hire me on and my roommate worked as an SSV at this store, i ordered a peach green tea lemonade and i tried it and it tasted like just straight green tea, trying not be rude i had let the barista on c/m that there was no peach, she looked at me shocked and said: i literally put the fucking peach in it. i just stood there shocked and i was like: um ok did you like not shake it? and she snatched it and remade it, shook it, and it tasted fine but immediately after i could see her in the headset rolling her eyes and walking away to assumedly talk shit to the floor 😭 that girl left before i got to that store but damn that hurt
quirky-nugget [OP] 10 points 7m ago
Some baristas don’t know when to accept when their wrong and it just makes the situation worseee
BatWeary 21 points 7m ago
yeah, there’s a few locations i won’t go to. i got an iced chai from one store and it tasted like straight up bleach. idk if they were washing dishes wrong or what but the remake tasted the same way. another store pulled my cold brew from the tap, and then cut it with water…again. unless they don’t cut the cold brew in the kegs 🤕 whatever she did made my sweet cream cold brew taste like sad coffee milk water, there was barely any flavor bc it was so watered down
Cinnamonvirgo 6 points 7m ago
i wonder if the chai was frap roast
BatWeary 8 points 7m ago
it had a chai taste to it, it smelled like chai. just chai mixed with bleach.
Cinnamonvirgo 3 points 7m ago
yikes!
ChikiBeibi 18 points 7m ago
This wasn’t baaaad but it threw me! I went to a Starbucks like 10 minutes away from mine once and ordered a sausage egg and cheddar and the girl was like “what?” And I repeated it and she turned off her headset to ask someone (I’m assuming) what I meant and she comes back and goes “ohhhh sorry it’s because we don’t call that a sausage egg and cheddar, we call that a classic sausage breakfast” and I was like what hahahaha. I still think about that sometimes
livingtrying 5 points 7m ago
Wait what? What would they call the other breakfast sandwiches?
ChikiBeibi 3 points 7m ago
LMFAO I wish I knew!!!! I think about the interaction a lot and it just doesn’t make sense hahaha
adventurelyfe 15 points 7m ago
I went to one yesterday and ordered a grande drip with a splash of 2%. It was cold. I told the chick it was cold and she said “that’s what happens when you add cold milk” 🤯

I was like, “I’m a barista too, that is what happens when you don’t make your drip coffee consistently, not when you add a splash of milk”

💀
LambCHOP6988 13 points 7m ago
Once had an SM roll her eyes at me because the black tea she made me was supposed to be unsweetened.
PrestigiousLong3023 12 points 7m ago
I mobile ordered to a Starbucks near my college. It was 3pm, so I gave it 10 minutes. I walked in and it (2 food items) wasn’t ready, no big deal. The employees were all joking around aside from the cafe bar one, so I stood there and waited for my order. They got a few more mobile orders for drinks and passed them out, but when the tickets stopped printing, someone asked me why I was waiting and I said I mobile ordered for ___. They said they didn’t have any order from me. I said “yes! There wasn’t a drink, it was just food” and they asked me to go order at the register. I told them no, I mobile ordered. They asked me if I had paid for the order. I said yes, I mobile ordered, it’s just food. Meanwhile at this point I’ve been here over 5 minutes and I’ve just been staring at my stickers that are still hanging out of the warming oven printer.

Finally they understood/I said it right or something? and someone looked over at the warming oven and saw the stickers, and they made my food but all the employees were shooting nasty looks at me. They just dropped them off at the mobile order area without even saying anything. Sooo uncomfortable
Perfect-Leadership58 11 points 7m ago
there’s this one store in our area, im sure we all have that ONE store. but i mobile ordered just 3 drinks, all really simple basic drinks no mods, except mine was a sweet cream cold brew and i added one extra pump of vanilla, so ya know, it’d print how much vanilla goes in on the sticker. anyways we get there a good 15 mins after ordering, pull up to the drive thru and there’s only 2 cars in the drive thru. we pull up say we have a mobile order and they go “oh well it’s not ready yet so you can either get out of line and come in or pull around again” in the RUDEST attitude ever, but surprise surprise our very simple drinks were obviously sitting for a while by the time they handed them out to us :)
Praxlyn 10 points 7m ago
the way some of y’all are treated is how some of y’all treat customers btw im hoping it’s an eye opener 😭
foomeitshitme 9 points 7m ago
Ordered a tall cold brew and got a cup of concentrate.
thatminimumwagelife 9 points 7m ago
Yeah, we had a couple of bad locations but because I know what it's like to be behind the counter, I don't complain. It could just be a miserable shift. I don't blame them for being shit - it could be a shit day.
Next_Resolution_3889 7 points 7m ago
See I get this but also why are some partners so rude 😭
softheartelectricsol 8 points 7m ago
this one time i wanted an iced chai with caramel drizzle but i always get it with caramel around the cup and not on top. there’s an option for “line cup w/ caramel” right under the caramel drizzle button on the POS and i had to point it out to the barista at the register bc they were clueless when i said “could you line the cup with caramel for me pls”
postmal0n3 6 points 7m ago
Okay im new and didnt know about this button i will be utilizing this from now on thank you
CatalyticGenesis 8 points 7m ago
i actually now work at this sbux, but my first time coming here i got a black tea lemonade with peach. got peach green tea lem and im like. well. Okay.
Alternative_Exam3723 7 points 7m ago
One of the Safeways in my town has the NASTIEST baristas and by nasty I mean just plain rude!!! They over charge for drinks (I also work at a licensed location I know the prices) drinks are always wrong. They snatch them out of your hands so fast they spill hot coffee on you when you ask for it remade. It’s a horrible experience 😂 I hate it
Ajskdjurj 6 points 7m ago
I ordered a plain bagel at a location but got a everything. My daughter had a allergy and couldn’t eat it. The girl huffed and puffed at me for exchanging it. I had to show her the app that I ordered plain because she said i should know what I’m ordering.. I rolled my eyes and just waited.
Drahgonfly 1 points 7m ago
What is she allergic too in a everything bagel? The sesame seeds ?
stunky420 6 points 7m ago
I always get an iced mocha but other stores always give me white mocha and so i have to hold up the line to get it remade bc i hate the white mocha and I always feel so bad

eta: which is definitely not as bad as other things in this thread but it happens EVERY time
hollsberry 4 points 7m ago
If you’re nice there’s no hard feelings to remake it! Iced mochas are one of the easiest drinks to make! There’s also pretty uncommon, surprisingly. White mochas are a lot more popular and the stickers look very similar when you’re working fast. They also change the abbreviations on the stickers pretty regularly.
stunky420 2 points 7m ago
I know! I’m a partner! I just always feel bad sending stuff back lmao
stunky420 1 points 7m ago
Like it get it, people don’t normally get mocha but
eye-brows 5 points 7m ago
I was visiting colleges with my family, I ordered my grande iced caramel macchiato as per the usual and was like "hey I have partner numbers, they're 220****" and he looked at me and went "I don't believe you."

I had to go out, walk three blocks to the car to get my license and prove it to him.
Few_Conclusion_8824 4 points 7m ago
Lol yes the store closest to my old apartment wouldn’t let me get espresso in my nitro or ice???? But they had no probalena getting me a Trenta cup of almond milk when I only ordered a venti because that’s the biggest the system will recognize lmao. They also made my caramel macchiato with the drizzle at the btm and were so rude about it
alexadegrange 3 points 7m ago
My dad texted me a month or so ago and asked me if he’s wrong for not tipping on his last trip. They had just changed to new menus, and brown sugar shaken wasn’t in big letters anymore. So he asked the girl if they still had it. This girl loudly scoffed and rolled her eyes and just said “Duh.” And then ignored him when he said “Have a good day.”
My dad sounded so hurt and upset by it that it still makes me want to scream. I get asked question way more STUPID than that by rude people everyday, I am NEVER that rude to people just asking questions. That’s like… half our complicated ass job.
kasaboe 2 points 7m ago
compared to everything else on this thread it’s rlly nothing, but once i went to a different and ordered a carmel apple spice. i was very excited for it bc i had a long day and it was getting cold outside. i get my drink and it’s only apple cider :/
defendtrevornoah 2 points 7m ago
I ran 4 updosed blonde shots in an iced coffee in Brooklyn and could taste that they didn’t pull shots in it but I didn’t want to make a deal of it.
HarpieLady13 1 points 7m ago
I was craving a drink we used to have called the coconut milk mocha macchiato, so I went though a drive thru and said, “can I get an iced caramel macchiato with white mocha instead of the vanilla and coconut milk?😊” and the guy was like,”…. So you just want a white mocha upside down with coconut milk?😒😒.” And in my head, I’m like no not really but sure. And he probably didnt know it was a drink we used to have and just thought I was being complicated? Haha idk but he was pretty rude about it and acted like “he knew better than the customer” but I’m literally a partner.
Buffcats420 1 points 7m ago
They told me the dragon drink didn’t exist and I pulled up the window and she was like “I confused you didn’t I?” And I was like no your confused lol. This was out of state btw idk if that changes menu options tho, does it ?
mes0cyclones 1 points 7m ago
omg yes — i was at a bux in maryland and used my numbers and got ID’d. im trans and had my preferred name on my partner profile, but my name isn’t legally changed so my ID has my dead name. mind you, the last names are the exact same.

i let the woman on window know as i was handing it over that my preferred name is on my profile and my legal name on my ID and she said “yeah they don’t match”, so i tried to explain that i’m trans and don’t want to use my deadname at work and don’t have the money to change it. she said “that’s not my problem and i don’t care” and shoved my ID back at me, all while my wife in the driver’s seat (who was also a partner) tried to vouch for me.

she ended up making us BOTH pay full price. at the time of this i didnt know partner cards existed, but was it really that serious? jfc

Not even a specific store because this happens at multiple. Even happened to me over 1,000 miles away from home at another store. But WHY on earth are my pink drinks made wrong 70% of the time? It's to the point I don't even like going anymore because I never know if it's going to be made right. And since I'm not working there anymore I'm not paying 6 bucks for a drink for it to be wrong. So many times it doesn't have enough coconut milk. I try to be nice and just say hey can I get some more coconut milk but they always act like I'm the problem which is why I don't even like complaining.

So I just don't go to Starbucks anymore I saw somewhere that the pink drink is gonna be bottled and sold in places but no fruit pieces which I get mine without the fruit anyway. So once those are for sale ill just get my pink drink that way. It's such a simple drink I don't understand how you can screw it up
