Losing our best ssv today | grande rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Brolicbarista
Pour a shot out for our best SSV unfortunately leaving our store and this stupid company because of the lack of care for partners and shit management. This is a 5 year partner who stuck out at the same store through 3 SMs and delivered their best every single day. Their presence on our team is unmatched by anyone, nobody else is more knowledgeable and helpful and willing.
Sadly they have been literally homeless since September, moving between hotels around town trying to keep up with the rates every week.
They had an opportunity to interview for an ASM position, a role which not only our store but 3 others in the district could have benefited from; unfortunately they did not move forward with our partner. In fact they didn’t receive a formal answer at all after 2 interviews.
Yesterday they announced to our team that they will be leaving the store, and the state to move back home closer to family and hopefully better opportunities for employment.
I am extremely disappointed in my DM for his lack of involvement in our store. All he cares about is drive times and customer connection (just the numbers not genuinely connecting), and that’s proven by the write ups to the SM while never once coming to the store to see what typical peak is like, never offering help or solutions to our staffing issues. It’s all about the numbers. What happened to investing in your partners?
With our best SSV leaving the rest of us will only continue to follow I can feel. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy this job (mostly) and don’t want to leave, but I know management red flags when I see them.
Fuck the dm

That’s so unfortunate OP. Sorry you lost such a valuable team member. We also recently lost our best as well if you wanna chat. Did this ex partner possibly transfer to a store in their home state? Since they’ve been with the company so long they shouldn’t have many problems getting a transfer

Thnks for the reply - and sorry you’re going thru the same.
ATP they’re so over the company they’d rather work anywhere else (and I believe they mentioned all the stores in the area are franchise only?). We are gunna miss the hell out of them but at the same time I’m happy they’ll be moving back and will have a home to stay in.
Im a 368* that made SSV in 3 months, they taught me everything I know 🫡 bittersweet moments yk
