Your reminder to please put your milk away (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dnims24
I know that I’m also sometimes bad about this but try to help everyone at my store remember to put milks away. I recently went to another location that was nextdoor to the pet store and I got my usual (a venti choc milk). A few hours later I got sick enough that I had to be sent home after only one hour of my shift. I have no proof that it was because they left milk out but it is common in my area I’ve noticed.

especially sweet cream!! sweet cream will not foam up correctly if it goes below a certain temp, and it’s just unsanitary (and against standard) to leave milks out of the fridge

You mean go above a certain temp? I'm not being a jersey. I'm genuinely asking.

at my store they have a pitcher they leave on the counter 24/7 and just keep a cube in the fridge to refill, i have always thought it was a bit unsanitary. we are a high volume store so we are going thru it quickly, but still. should i maybe bring it up with my team?

So many times I'll hear complaints it wasn't made right because it's not foaming wh3n all along they didn't want to put it way cuz (insert excuse or reason). Drives me nuts because they always think they're right and I'm crazy

My recommendation to make this easy is to try to keep no more than one thing out of the fridge at a time when it's busy. Whenever you need something out of the fridge, put what you already have out back first so you only have to bend down once.

When it's slow enough that you aren't getting something else out every few minutes, then put everything back as soon as you're done with it.

Definitely. Last summer I had a cold brew w milk from a different company and I got so sick from it that I ended up having to go to an urgent care for severe dehydration from all being so sick. The Dr said it’s common to see ppl get sick like that after visiting any coffee place due to unhygienic practices as letting milk sit out

On this topic, also throw out the tabs once you cut the milk bags (I’m Canadian as you can tell haha) I see a lot of people leave them on the counters and that’s bad because I know at least one customer has complained about one ending up in their drink

And today I learned about milk bags! Interesting Google rabbit hole I just went down! Do you pour the milk into a pitcher and then pour from the pitcher to make the drink?
feistybugs 2 points 7m ago
as a canadian, this is the sweetest question i’ve ever seen😭😭
Garfield_Simp 2 points 7m ago
We have our own milk bag holders the milk bag would go into, we cut off the corner of the bag and pour from there
ContingenciesMatter 1 points 7m ago
Ahh that makes sense. Thanks!

Lmao I’m not even micromanaging. I’m not even in a supervisor position. It’s just a friendly reminder since I had a bad experience. Sorry it rustled your jimmies my dude

What happened in this thread 🧍🏻it’s just a friendly reminder. And it’s true about the sweet cream, the foam sucks if you leave it out for too long
