Not enough supervisors for me to call out sick without feeling guilty (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Scared-Ad-7678
Today I woke up feeling sicker than I have felt since I had pneumonia a decade ago. I have only called out sick twice in the entire year I have worked here yet I feel too ashamed to call out sick again today. We only have two shift supervisors other than myself. One of them opened this morning, and the other one is on vacation right now. My manager is working today and if I called out she would most likely have to close and work a very long shift. This makes me feel so guilty, but at the same time we have been needing more shift supervisors for months now and no one has hired any. I’m just very frustrated at the entire situation

as a manager who has had to work over twelve hours multiple times because a closing ssv called out when i was already on the floor, call out. it might suck for her today but it’s the job and we know it when we sign up for it. i would rather have to work an unexpected double to allow one person to stay home than have that person come in and get everyone else sick 100% of the time.

my sm would never come in for a ssv lmao they’d just close the store. but also they can reach out to other stores in the area and ask them for help its not just on your other ssv’s they can call the other stores.

you would probably feel more guilty if you got all the other partners in the store sick with whatever illness you are fighting right now
