Transfer? Or resign then reapply? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Darcie_Autham
Hi everyone,

I know this time of year can be a struggle for most so I share my compassion for ya!

Like the title says, I’m in some limbo and after telling my manager that I’ve relocated (largely unplanned). I’m off the schedule and haven’t worked in almost month (I’m in between jobs right now). I do want to keep my benefits though and have been looking at different stores in my new area to work at.

Since I haven’t figured out a transfer yet, I’m wondering if I should just quit and reapply for one or a couple of the local stores… another reason I may forgo a direct transfer is that my manager straight up told me that they wouldn’t recommend a transfer based on one coaching experience we had. I neglected to tell them that I’m neurodivergent and so thats probably why that experience didn’t go smoothly. But whatever - it’s ancient history.

I spoke with the DM about three weeks ago but haven’t heard back.

I also heard rumblings that my manager was moving on out of Starbucks soon so my opportunity to work with them is closing fast. Idk who would be replacing them.

I’m scared of resigning since idk how it will affect my benefits, especially if I have to wait several weeks until I get rehired…

Does anybody have any pointers? Thanks!

Transfer. You lose your benefits if you resign. Also just keep reaching out to higher ups in the process so that way they don't forget about you
