grande rant abt my fave customers(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by insanitysgrip
i work at a café location, every single evening (like 6/7pm) this older couple comes in and they get a tall hot chocolate and a tall decaf flat white.
over the months my coworkers and i have gotten to know them and absolutely adore them. at least once a week, they take the time (when it’s slow) to tell each and every one of us that we are amazing and they love all of us/we are doing a great job.
they are basically the grandparents of our store. i could go on and on about them.
two days ago i found out the woman has alzheimer’s and that’s why she tells us every week that she loves us and we are amazing, because she doesn’t remember the last time she told us (her husband explained it to me).
when i tell you my coworker and i SOBBED in the back together afterwards….
i’ve gotten them a gift card and i made a little watercolour card of their home town in italy to give them the next time they come in, to say thank you and happy holidays. i’m really excited to give it to them
do y’all have any favourite customers?

This made me cry and I’m not even there. I definitely have a favorite customer but I know my coworkers are on here and if I mention any details it’s way too obvious lol

I kind of love customers like that.... There's an older gentleman who comes every day (sometimes twice!) Orders the same thing and is always polite. He loves to chat and says hi to everyone! Highlights include: - He said people who had tattoos must be sadist (he meant masochistic but couldn't remember)
- When my finger locked up because of something I had I said "oh it's fine!" Cause I've dealt with it before and he looks at me and goes "no it's not ... You should talk to your doctor"
-when my finger healed up I was talking to him about it and told him I'd ask my doctor about it. He then told me about how he got drop foot once (he asked if I knew what it was and in my head I went haha yeah I know bc of a vtuber)
- just yesterday I was trying to chat with him at the window but a customer at the box was like HI HoW aRe YOu so I took her order and came back to him explaining how sometimes customers get impatient and sometimes grumpy and in the few months ive "known" this man he hasn't cursed once. He said "bitch" and then also said we don't get paid enough

I have pretty funky glasses. We have a regular who comes in with his son or daughter. He just had his 67th wedding anniversary.
His daughter had him in one day and commented that she didn't recognize anyone (it was mostly green beans - myself included. I've only been here 6 months) but he pointed to me on bar
"I remember her. She always has nice glasses."
🥺🥺🥺

I literally wana meet them 🧡 this is good to kno that even thru hardships that some customers go thru, they can be some of the nicest ones. A guy that comes to my store every morning for coffee barely has money and he came in the other day and gave my shift an envelope of money and told her to split it with the people he sees in the mornings. He and i were literally talking the other day about the holidays and how we both have zero extra money to get gifts for our families and yet he still was kind enough to give us money 🧡🧡 i love some of our regulars. They genuinely make me happy

just sealed it! i have a custom wax seal that’s the same as one if my tattoos. i had a morning shift today so didn’t see them but i hadn’t finished the card. i have an evening shift tomorrow so i’m sure i’ll give it to them then!

I have a few favorite regulars:
We have a gentleman who comes through our drive every day, sometimes more than once, to get a venti matcha latte for his wife. We admirably call him "matcha man" and he's taken to giving rubber duckies to one of our partners who is in recovery and recently lost her boyfriend.
We have another gentleman who comes into our cafe every day to have a coffee, a ham and swiss croissant and two cheese danishes. He is always incredibly polite, cheerful and kind. He always tips us and remembers all of our names/addresses us by name, especially when thanking us (which he always does).
An older woman who regularly comes into our cafe for grounds and a latte. My little cousin Jackson was killed in the Waukesha Parade last year, and I have taken it pretty hard. This woman came in every day and spoke with kindness, asked about my life, told me about her life for almost a YEAR before she told me she knew that I lost him. I never told her, she just said she knew all along and had been thinking of me and my family and praying for us. The reason she never told me was because she didn't want to bring it up or remind me of losing Jackson. And when she finally did, it was because she asked if she could give me a hug because she wanted to for so long. When I say I cried I mean I CRIED when this happened.
