Wish people didn’t order 20 gift cards in the middle of peak (self.starbucksbaristas)

Licensed store so we don’t operate on Starbucks registers yet, just the store ones. Anyway this guy came in this morning and bought 20 gift cards right in the middle of peak. Because we’re not on Starbucks registers, I had to scan each. Fucking. Card. Individually. And activate it. Then I had to print each receipt for each card so he has each card receipt that says how much money is on each card. And then I had to sleeve each of them.
If you wanna buy a bunch of gift cards, fine, that’s cool and all, but don’t do it in the middle of fucking *peak*. Seriously, there was a huge line behind this guy. Come on. Have a *little* more common sense than that. -_-

I'm at a corporate store and once during peak a lady just wanted a gc through drive. But she threw a fit wanting to see each design to have a pretty one.
Lady if the design is so important, walk inside. It's ridiculous to hold up a drive for a gift card just because of the design. ( cause heaven forbid someone actually walk inside 🙄)

i’ve been screamed at for this exact thing!!! it was when i first started too so i was extremely confused and nervous :( so much pressure on a piece of plastic someone is going to throw away some day

Like one person said, if it's the same balance for each card: go to quanity, type in how many you need, don't press any other buttons in the quanity area (just put in the quanity number) THEN hit activate.
It will let you scan each card without going through the whole activation and balance part for each card.
Every time I do this in front of a partner and show them this trick.....They're just shocked and amazed. It's like a party trick.

Yeah, I saw someone mention this a while ago but we don’t run on Starbucks registers, so we don’t have a quantity option for gift cards :/

this has saved me so much time, except for that one customer that wanted like 20 of the multipacks plus a bunch of the special holiday gift cards that the POS for some reason processes as multipacks - those, you unfortunately have to activate individually

I work at a licensed Starbucks and I don’t mind scanning them and activating them if it is peak. It gives the other baristas a chance to catch up.

You do have to scan them all, but if you hit "quantity" and select how many cards you need, as long as they're all the same amount, you don't have to hit "Activate" and type the number for each, you can just scan, scan, scan

1. it doesn’t work for the packaged singles (like the ones shaped like the cranberry bliss bar)
2. hit the functions tab, or wherever the “activate new card” is i don’t remember the name of the tab. but don’t hit the button yet.
3. without anything selected, hit “quantity” and type in the number of gift cards
4. hit “activate new starbucks card” with the quantity still open
5. type in the price you want on each card (has to be the same for all)
6. scan away!!

If they’re activating all the cards for the same amount, press “quantity” then enter the # of cards, then go to “activate card” and enter the dollar amount. Then swipe/scan away :)
