My manager recently talked to me about being promoted to a shift and she also talked about further down the line possibly becoming an asm and one day having my own store.
I felt weird about asking her about salary expectations though. There are lots of discussions on here about shift pay, but how much do asm and am positions make?
I'm in Ontario, Canada btw but open to all answers!

ASM pay isn't *that* much better than shift pay. Maybe 2-3 dollars more per hour. At my store, the highest paid shift makes 23/hour. The ASM makes 25. I'm not aware of manager pay though

You would talk to the dm about salary not your manager

I just felt weird asking my sm in the moment, but it's way too far off into the future to ask my DM about it. I haven't decided if I want to stay with the company long term, which is why I was curious about asm/sm salaries. If the position pays poorly then I might decide to just remain a barista, but if the pay is worthwhile then I'll consider stepping up as a shift and work towards asm.

Pay ranges are available on the careers site!

Don’t feel weird. It’s a question any employer should be able to answer without trouble. You’re not working for free after all.

Keep in mind that ssv is hourly + tips, asm is salary no tips. I keep reading that with cc tipping ssv pay becoming very comparable to asm.

I actually haven't seen any difference with my tips, I'm in Canada so that may be why. Idk if we even have cc tips tbh

You would know, it's a seperate line item (at least in US) on paycheck and when you hand the cc machine to the customer, it's the first prompt whether they wanted to tip

We have stationary debit/credit machines so we rarely see the screen, we just hit the credit/debit button on the pos and the customer does the rest. On my paystub there is a line item for tips that we get via mobile, but I haven't seen any change to that amount week to week
