Pay does go down, but my experience both times I demoted (once from sm to ssv and then ssv to barista when I found a desk job) was they would move you to a new store. I’m in a big city with a lot of options, though, so it wasn’t out if the ordinary to get demoted partners transfer in. we have lots of locations, we could basically choose where to go as long as there was room.
