Regular constantly asks for her coffee to be remade.... (self.starbucksbaristas)

There is this regular at my store who's coffee order is 10 hot blonde ristretto shots, a few pumps of vanilla, and vanilla sweet cream cold foam. 3-4 times a week she returns back to the drive thru and complains that her drink is wrong and wants it remade.

Today one of my ssv had enough and asked her what's always wrong with her drink because he's noticed this is a frequent occurrence and just wants to make sure that she gets the drink she wants the first time.

This ladies complaint is that her 10 blonde ristretto shots are TOO BITTER 🥴🥴🥴

A few months ago a coworker, who no longer at my store, decided to only put in 6 shots instead of 10 and she said it was perfect and the best it's ever tasted 🙃

We did this with a customer. He’d order a grande iced coffee with 5 pumps of vanilla and then complain we didn’t put in 5 pumps, it’s not sweet enough. Partners figured out he likes 5 pumps in a tall, 7 pumps in a grande, and they would make it accordingly regardless what he ordered.

I put a stop to that. I said if someone new were to take his order and make it the way he ordered, he’s going to get upset. We should not habituate our customers to ordering incorrectly because it just causes problems when they go to other stores or if drinks are made by people who don’t know what they really want. Surprisingly, they listened and now if we know a customer likes a drink a certain way, we train them to order it that way.

We have a customer that does this as well. she expects all of us to memorize what she likes. I try again and again when she asks for it to be remade to specify the pumps or else it'll only get the standard amount, but still refuses bc we make it for her all the time. We just got 3 green beans too, looking forward to that :)

Oh my. It gets difficult with green beans.

I had one customer come by DT and cheerily say hello and give me her name and said she wanted her daily usual. I had to tell her, “Glad you’re back again! But I don’t usually work mornings so I’m afraid I don’t know what your usual is. Could you tell me?”

Thank you SO much for trying to train the customer. It’s unrealistic for customers to expect us to know what they really want. Plus, it’s not like we have a database of profiles where we can input that information for ourselves and our posterity.

this just more proves that people don’t know what they’re ordering

and that they don’t actually like coffee, they just want something sweet and loaded with sugar

Yeah, I'd be throwing an extra splash of sweet cream in her drink from now on.
