External SSV hire… and I’m leaving after 6 weeks(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Fickle-Background203
So I was hired at the end of October as a shift supervisor at a store with a new manager tasked with “weeding out the bad seeds” and overall improving a struggling store (drive thru in a college town). I was trained for one week as a barista and then I started running shifts on my own because of the four other shifts, two were working out their two weeks notices, one was on LOA, and the other was on paternity leave. I quickly got overwhelmed and a bad taste in my mouth for the company. Most of the baristas have been there 2+ years and don’t respect me since I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m constantly held to an expectations that aren’t communicated to me. I haven’t even finished SSV training and I’ve been running my own shifts for a month. Manager has pressure on her from above to fix the store, and she’s firing people when we are already understaffed.
Luckily, I got a job on campus (I’m a student), so I’m leaving. I’m on my last few shifts of my two weeks. I’m just curious though… is this a common thing or is my store just awful? I probably would have quit regardless of my new job. I know this is irrelevant to me now since I’m leaving, but I just walked out of a horrible shift and wondering if this is happening to other partners?

they only trained you as a barista for one week? jfc no wonder you're overwhelmed! ngl, this store definitely sounds worse than a starbucks *should* be😭 at the end of the day, do what is best for YOU. i've definitely had to walk out of shifts before, your wellbeing is more important than that job.

Not saying any names to remain anonymous and respectful but I work at the store you’re referring to and I wholeheartedly agree that it was awful and I can’t say I’m sorry enough for what you were put through because you shouldn’t have had to deal with what you did but our store has been going downhill since last December and I’m so happy for you that you got away from it

This is my worst fearrr😭 (someone I work with seeing a post about our store)

I’m not trying to make anyone feel bad 😅 I just glanced at the post at first then reread it bc I was like wait a damn minute this is MY store and realized there were too many specifics for it not to be my store

Lol for a second I thought it was my old store but that manager sucked and she would’ve been the reason you quit lmao
