submitted by SuccotashNew4021
I’ve applied MULTIPLE times to all 5 Starbucks in my area. How tf do I get an interview/job?? I have the experience. I’ve worked at Biggby Coffee as a barista. I have worked CS for 10+ years, I’ve worked at Target, our local hospital & for the federal government but not good enough for Starbucks?? Lol why is it SO HARD

A lot of stores leave their applications up all the time even when they’re fully staffed. It’s possible that the store around you all did their typical pre-holiday hiring and are no longer actively looking to hire. Unfortunately they also recently announced company-wide cuts to store hours in Jan, so managers probably aren’t looking for extra people right now.

Where can I find this announcement about the hours?

it’s possible that you’re over qualified. a lot of minimum wage jobs don’t hire people that would be better off at a place that requires more experience. that’s a common trend in my town at least.

This is also the busiest period of the year for the bucks and there was a hiring wave back in the fall anticipating the busy period. You may have better luck in January after the holiday season is over.

Have you called the stores after applying to talk to the managers??

Do you have open availability?

I do, I selected everyday and time

Hmm.... Do you live in a region with a minimum wage that is significantly lower than the starting wage at Starbucks? If so, baristas are more likely to stay in their jobs and the turnover would be much lower.

Negative on that too. Walmart, Target, McDonald’s etc hire in at $15-$17

i think rn most stores have hired everyone they need for the holidays, if u can afford to wait id try again in spring when we hire for the summer

Have you shown up in-person, or at least called the store you applied to?

If not, do so during business hours on a weekday (M-F 9-5). Late morning or early afternoon would be a good time to do this, as the store manager would almost certainly be in the store at that time.

Ask to speak to the store manager, quickly introduce yourself, and say that you’re interested in working there/that you have open availability. That’s what I did (minus the open availability part), and my store manager scheduled an interview for me that day.
