Scheduled outside of availability(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Virgoqveen
My manager has now scheduled me outside of my availability for the third time. The first time it happened I texted her about it as soon as I noticed, but received no response so I ended up having to work the shift. The second time I just sucked it up and worked the shift because I didn’t have anything previously planned and figured she wouldn’t do anything about it since she didn’t do anything about it the first time. This time however I cannot work the shift because of my therapy appointment (which is the whole reason I’m unavailable to work that day and I have discussed this before with her). I offered the shift on partner hours, but no one has claimed it. What are my options? I really don’t want to have to go to the DM since in my experience going over people’s heads rarely works.

Talk to your SM in person. I have way too much going on in my personal life to respond to 500 questions each day. The scheduling system isn’t flawless and sometimes outside of availability slips through. I doubt it was intentional so just speak to them on your next shift.

I text my SM all the time. But if it’s very important, I’ll call her or talk in person or she’ll call.
Thank you so much for sharing this!

Don't text her, call her or talk to her next time you see her

talk to your manager again and let them know you are being scheduled outside ur availability. hope that it was just a mistake somehow, and that they fix it for you
otherwise its technically not against policy and you’ll have to try and find coverage, although ultimately its not your job to find coverage anywho, but your manager’s. if nobody wanted your shift i’d just personally call out n be vague or say you’re sick:/
