Building next door is being torn down. It's less than 20ft from our drive thru and has asbestos in it. They tore down half but the side closest to us isn't down yet. When the trucks pulled in and they started I had a panic attack. Shaking, almost hyperventilating. There are no safety precautions going on. Dt is still open, no fences, tarps, etc.

Unless your SM and DM are both complete scumbags you won’t be written up for having a panic attack.
This is a situation for your area’s labour standards office or equivalent to look into - asbestos is not taken lightly. Depending on your location the city/municipality will often have a building and site inspection staff too.
At the very least they should be providing you with particulate respirators while the work is happening.

They're not providing anything. I'd been warning them for months that the building is too close, especially with our DT right up against it, and the asbestos is a danger, along with all the mold inside. I basically got brushed off or told we'd see what corporate decides. Now my DM is on vacation and the SM isn't working today.
Edit: They're wetting the building with water but that really doesn't do shit if something goes wrong.

I’ve you have a solid trail of asking for a solution, you won’t get in trouble for going over management’s head if you hit up the labour/building standards people. Both Starbucks and the construction site should shut up and listen to them.

I did get more info from a federal source that verified some info. The company removed at least 95% of the asbestos and are using water to control concrete dust, etc. The gentleman was very kind in answering my questions. However, still shaking at the thought of working next to all of that.
