My boss has called getting burnt by the grilled cheese a "rite of passage" because of how frequently it happens. Hope you're ok, as another comment said go see a doctor if possible

Just an FYI, make sure you’re putting grilled cheese butter side down. I haven’t checked but have heard many say that it says it on the package and have found it’s less likely to be as greasy. Hope your hand heals quickly!!!

something i keep on me at work is lavender oil (none of my partners are allergic)! if put on a burn soon after getting burned, it can help prevent blistering. it’s very helpful.

It happens to us all eventually. Had scars from the grilled cheese for MONTHS on my arm.

Grilled cheese, impossible sandwiches, turkey bacon sandwiches, sometimes ham and swiss baguettes, and chocolate croissants are all so evil and have burned every single one of our partners at least once and scarred multiple of them

Ugh I have a scar in the same place from a chocolate croissant🥲 keeping it covered during the day and then bandage off and aquaphor at night was helpful for mine.

Same thing happened to me, in the same spot. I have a permanent mark there now. It was blistered for 1.5 months

editing to add: I also got second degree burns because of pike spilling on my ankle while on DT.

some advice.
this might be obvious to y’all but remember that if a hot liquid soaks into clothes, it will continue burning you until you take off that clothing and can be a lot worse than bare skin alone. don’t delay—get that stuff off and run to the back. wearing water resistant shoes helps but in my case with the pike it spilled onto my pants and sock just above where shoes go up to.

and y’all I know this is in the safety training but since I’ve had people who should know better tell me wrong things, i’m gonna say it anyway. cool water. no ice, no warm water, no other nonsense (aside from burn gel from the first aid kits if you wish). just cool water.

Look for hydrocolloid gel or hydro-seal bandages. Once your you’ve healed for a day or two use these bandages to help the area heal up. Tried this on one of my burns. It helps a lot.

I’ve had hot water, steamed milk and all sorts of cheese on me but I’ve never had this happen to me. Guess I just have tough skin unlike others.
