True! He could’ve meant it that way but it was very odd

I’m in AZ, so it’s a mixed bag, especially where I’m at we’re a bit closer to ASU so it tends to be a little more progressive/accepting. In June, a customer had given me a pride pin that was just a heart in rainbow color, so I was wearing that (so cool to be given it by a customer). And a guy saw my pin and said “oh are you a part of the lgbt?” And I was a bit unsure how to answer, the guy came in fairly regularly but the tone he asked was a bit judgmental. As I was thinking of how to answer and quickly just said yeah, hoping to move on, he said that’s good we need more love and less hate or something along those lines, but I’ll tell you for a minute as a trans, queer, person I was very worried about where the convo was heading.

Oh that’s so nice! That’s part of the reason I posted was his tone but then again that could just be him as a person! Here in SC it is very common to get hate rather than support so I was very worried

Acknowledging your differences isn’t necessarily a form of hate, a truly homophobic person would treat you like you’re sub human. He may have just assumed that since you’re in the Bible Belt you might generally have a harder time fitting in other places
