First week as SSV, realized I’ve been opening wrong :))) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by idkcassie
I’ve opened a few times the past week, not a single shift has been smooth (everything in our store is broken, had call outs, out of everything, etc. the usual). But I realized today when my SM texted me I dont think I’ve been doing the cash management correctly and I feel awful. I’ve been counting the tills to the open amount, starting a deposit of any extra funds, and closing the deposit bag and putting it through to door 2.

I haven’t been inputting the till & change funds into the cash management system and I forgot that was even a thing. I only had one training ssv shift with my asm but i ended up basically doing barista tasks that morning bc we had a barista call out, and i thought I’d been doing things properly but I guess I haven’t.

I’ve read up on all the cash management stuff on the partner hub and my manager said she’d show me how to do the deposits correctly again but I’m so nervous. I have a lot of anxiety about not doing good enough after being very experienced in my barista role. Would anyone mind giving me a detailed checklist of the opening ssv’s cash management flow?

At every store I’ve opened at, the closers would par the tills and openers would only count them before open but they should already be at the correct amount. Most of the time, closers finalize the deposit but if you ever put a deposit in door two you need to make sure that you’ve put the information in cash management, print out the slip and put it in the bag, and mark all the information on the bag and in the book for Brinks.

The tills at open should be even to whatever your starting amount is, usually $200 idk if it varies by store. But there shouldn’t be any money over that from the night before. So even if you were doing it incorrectly, someone at closing is doing something wrong if there is more than $200 at open, unless it’s a few cents.

When you start a deposit bag, that’s your bag for the whole day, so just enter the amount you put in it in cash management and then put the bag behind door 1
