321***** about to quit (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by madihasson
I recently hit my one year, was hired as a shift, but I’m ready to hang up my apron. I just graduated from college and dread going into work and the future of this company. My district is implementing shift compliment in the new year, and our labor is getting cut more and more every week. My district manager decided that we aren’t allowed to schedule more than 3 people on the floor past 5 pm anymore. I can’t imagine what my hours are going to look like when I can no longer work with other shifts or have coverage shifts. My manager is doing her best to continue scheduling us but I’d rather quit and let the other shift pick up my hours. 🫡 its been real though.

I feel stupid for asking but what's shift compliment? 🙃

not stupid at all because I only heard about it when my manager told me we were starting it and I guess only certain districts enforce it. basically, supervisors aren’t allowed to work together for longer than a 30 minute overlap for the handoff. we also arent allowed to work barista shifts. I see it as an attempt for the company to cut down on paying shifts as much as possible in order to save money.

Ahh.. ok. Well I basically come in when everyone leaves so maybe I can weather this storm. Good luck to all and a jolly damn Xmas.

That has to be a district thing. We often have 2 or more shifts on the floor with the extras being barista coverage. I worked a mini shift last week had had 2 other shifts on the floor plus our ASM.

I had my first 3 person close past 6:30 (we close at 7:30 now) and I was DOUBLE BAR and FRONT. Htf is this sustainable.
