Hi!
Today I did my first sip and paperwork and stuff etc and I personally am excited to start working @ starbucks but every time I tell someone that’s where I’m starting, I feel like I get something negative like “oh why would you wanna work there” :’( I haven’t heard much positive or any encouragement
Is it really that bad??
Like I said before, I am excited so trying not to let other people’s views affect mine but I guess im just looking for some reassurance that it’s not as bad as people make it out to be.
If it matters, im at a shop that has no drive thru.
Thank U all :’)

aww I’m sorry you’ve been getting those reactions 😭 also congrats on getting a job at sbux!! Starbucks is mainly known for being high stress in terms of multitasking plus dealing with the insane amounts of customers we get in daily tbh the job does have its upsides and I’m sure you’ll come to enjoy it but do keep in mind that almost 9/10 times during ur shifts, you will be jam packed and wanting to pull ur hair out lolol

I’m sorry that others are telling you these things. Next time, ask them why they work where they do lol. Starbucks isn’t a place to be scoffed at, it’s quite professional, and is not just a regular fast food place. You receive benefits that others can only dream of being offered. I’m even getting free college thanks to a partnership with ASU. Don’t ever let non-partners make you feel bad about your choice of employment. I look forward to seeing future updates on your journey with Starbucks. Congratulations on the job!

Any job is a huge accomplishment! And good, bad that's all relative. A job you absolutely hate is guaranteed to be another job someone lives for. And something you love someone might not like but what does it matter if it's something you enjoy for yourself

It’s a really stressful job 90% of the time, you have to multitask it’s a given. Saying that, I’ve made friends for life there and wouldn’t change that for anything!

my opinion is that a lot of those people’s gripes are with their management and staff rather than the job itself, the company doesn’t have the best track record in regards to ethics and is constantly only thinking of ways to make more money and cut corners wherever they can, leading to understaffing, but honestly that’s just the way any food service and retail job is out there. despite that, i think great management really improves your work environment. my manager always has a great attitude, gives fair hours, helps whenever he can, defends us against rude customers, and is always kind and considerate towards his staff. my partners are all friendly, helpful, and funny. i can only see myself leaving due to either 1. being fired, 2. pressing life matters, 3. greater career opportunity, or 4. all the good staff leaving.
