I HATE THIS JOB. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Scared-Ad-7678
My manager came in high on hard-core drugs a few months ago. Not weed, heroin. She was allowed to go to rehab and return to work. I come in today for my shift and she is fucking drunk. i’m so tired of this company not taking into consideration how the partners would feel. Every shift we come in and are terrified at how she will behave. I need a new job immediately, which really sucks because I love this job but I hate how the company handles it

Bring it up to your DM if nothing has been done, bring it up to regional manager

Edit: spelling

She got what's called a "last chance agreement" but she is failing to comply with said agreement. Call the ethics line, maybe

Transfer to another store

I believe corporations/employers have to take certain steps before just outwardly firing someone with an Illness/disabilities. Otherwise they could be sued and what not. By no means am i justifying this like that is Fr WILD and I’m sorry you have to experience something like that. I’m also not sure if they have to follow those laws tho since Starbucks isn’t a unionized corp. Just wanted to put this out there as a possibility tho. I hope they get the help they need and that the higher ups consider all the rest of y’all at the store and take action.

They already took those steps by allowing SM to go to rehab and return. It is also in our code of conduct that we cannot come to work under the influence of substances, so that line has been crossed. Addiction is an illness, but it is also not something that gives free passes to do what you want without repercussions. SM is harming partners mentally, emotionally and physically with their actions.

This is so scary and I’m so sorry you and the other partners have to be in such an unsafe environment🥺 you should let your DM know right away. I hope this gets handled asap..

i hope you, your partners, and SM are okay. i’m sorry :(

That is so scary and frustrating. I’m sorry this is happening

Get ethics and compliance on the horn. Like yesterday
weerbine 2 points 6m ago
Contact your DM and request that they immediately come to your store to witness your SM's behavior. If they cannot, call another SM that you trust to come and vouch for you. Also call Ethics and Compliance and report this.

She inappropriately touched my coworker while she was high and he no longer feels comfortable working here. I will not have empathy for someone who does not care for other peoples boundaries
miniinovaa 6 points 6m ago
They were empathetic the first time. A second time? Nah
VictorianLibra22 4 points 6m ago
Maybe you should have more empathy for the partners being negatively affected by SM’s behavior. It is a choice to do drugs or get drunk and go to work (drunk driving potentially as well? Can easily kill people) so while it’s fine to have empathy, the dangerous behavior needs to be dealt with, and SM needs consequences for her choices

It is a disease, but it isn't okay to show up to work drunk or high. Full stop.

At least you can feel chill about taking a few minutes longer on your 10's
notabristcar 6 points 6m ago
I don’t know about this. We don’t know if she gets angry when she’s drunk/high/under the influence of a substance. I could see her being irrationally angry or violent for going over on your 10. It’s unsafe more than it is a perk.
barrrristaaa 3 points 6m ago
that’s really what you collected from this post? the partners on the floor are in danger.
