In conclusion, I hate gift cards(self.starbucksbaristas)

So, I just find it weird how you have to activate some gift cards through the pos system, then scan the barcode of the card (the normal way), but the packaged holiday gift cards you have to scan the barcode of the card to activate first. I was struggling for a good 10 minutes when a lady had 15 gift cards she needed.

Because one is considered a multipack and the other is not.

you hit activate card on a single card. but for multipacks you aren’t activating a single card so you scan it first.

If it’s a multipack you scan first and it’ll ask how much you want to add to each card. If it’s an individual card you will hit the activate button first, say how much it’s for, then scan.
The multipacks are more like merchandise. The individuals are solid gift cards.
