Holiday shifts supposed to be voluntary? We had a sign up sheets for which holidays, and they were completely ignored. I usually work Sundays but I signed up for Christmas Eve so I could go see my parents since they live in a different city. But I got scheduled for Christmas Day and now I have to scramble to get it covered 🙃 One of my shifts said that if you didn’t want to work it, you had to request off. But I didn’t sign up so I didn’t ask for it off. What is the point of sign up sheets if they’re ignored?

The sign up is a request. If not enough people sign up someone will get scheduled anyway

I would totally understand that, but every slot was full on the sheet, and people who did sign up weren’t scheduled.

then ask the people who weren’t scheduled but signed up if they want your shift easily.

That’s lame- I’m sure someone who signed up for the day would gladly take it

Call out sick. Don’t try and get it covered because if you call out sick after looking for coverage, it won’t look good for you. Just say you did the COVID check at home and didn’t pass.
