Cutting hours (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by IndustrySerious
I told my sm my days that I’ll be home for winter break and when I’ll be back. I asked if I could please get a lot of hours - 30-40, she said no problem. And everyone knows that I have a payment plan to pay for every month for school. I’m looking at my schedule and not only are my hours cut but one week I’m only working 2 days. I do that now, go home on the weekends and sometimes work a double if people call out. Like I need money for school and they know it. Also they know that I open the store and that my mom drives me to work before she goes to hers, and I’m scheduled to go in at 8 or 9:30 and sometimes leave at 1:30. Uber is too expensive to be going back and forth can cost $35-$40. This is so annoying I hate it

Your SM cannot accommodate everything. You might be able to open but there might not be a need for you as coverage during that time. I would definitely suggest looking into Lyft assist through Starbucks for rides. They offer free rides to and from the store. I have 3 partners taking advantage of that now and it works great if you schedule a day in advance. There is also a way to open yourself up in marketplace app to pick up shifts at other stores in your area.

- any store you want to pick hours up at, you need to be a "borrowed partner" for the shifts to open in marketplace. You can speak to any SM about it at a store you want hours at and they can coordinate with your SM
