I didn’t know that was a fire able offense at all.

Honestly I do stuff like this all the time. I invite people out, I had a bunch of people over to my house for DnD on one occasion. I make big group chats for people to talk in as well. The idea of someone reporting it to the boss is kinda ridiculous.

It's not against the rules to contact baristas if you're a SSV or a barista. Unless you said something inappropriate, you're allowed. It's discouraged but they can't tell you not to. I also don't believe they can fire you over text messages, as Starbucks doesn't recognize texting as an official form of communication. I find it odd that they'd try to fire you over this without so much as a warning.

Do you want the ethics and compliance number? Idk if they’d help you, but maybe they’d rather have you back than deal with a shitty SM?

This is awful, I’m so sorry. :(

Thank god I don’t give this shitty ass company my 100%.

I guess technically you’re not allowed to contact your baristas after a shift, but I can’t imagine getting fired for making sure someone is okay. What exactly did they say was the fire able offense?

Huh, I have a group me with my store and the shifts check on us sometimes. So it’s weird that you would be fired for that without a warning

I believe if you're getting denied unemployment, it's because Starbucks is denying the claim, though it's all different state to state. You should be able to appeal the decision and I cannot imagine you not winning on appeal unless there's some extreme details you're leaving out.

This is incredibly weird. My SM & DM love the fact our store is so close knit…I get some may not but I still can’t see it being a fireable offense

What you do outside of work hours is no one else's business but your own.
Batgrill 3 points 6m ago
I feel like you're not telling the whole story. Staff hated the SM, while you and then were cool. After they're gone you get written up for contacting staff after work. You keep doing it. You get fired.

i didnt even know this was a rule, this is awful. im so sorry this happened. starbucks seems to be on a firing spree and its scary honestly

Are you a shift supervisor perhaps? There’s been a lot of complaints in my district of baristas being contacted by people in management roles through unofficial channels. I guess people have felt pressured into discussing work during unpaid non work hours or feeling pressured to come in and cover call outs etc.

Please get a lawyer and appeal the denial of unemployment if possible

Were you at work when you contacted the baristas?
