opening is my fave! the first few hours are pretty dead (usually) and it’s peaceful and dark lol. i think it might be different for certain stores but at mine when you open you brew all the coffee, make teas, iced coffee, and fill ice. you might grab the sanni’s but sometimes the shifts do that. like i said it’s all different. you also might have to set up the pastry case and stock the breakfast sandwiches and RTD but at my store the next person to come in does that part, not the opener. like i said. all different :) good luck! always remember to ask what you should be doing if you’re ever lost or confused!

Brewing tea and iced coffee and calibrating the espresso machines are likely top priority. And if you have questions about how to do something, don't be afraid to ask for help!

So in my store there’s usually two opening baristas, one focusing on warming and setting up the pastry case and the other being “behind the line” focusing on preparing everything else for the day. If you’re on the pastry case it’s pretty self explanatory, you set up the pastry case according to the Sirens Eye (found on the Store Resources app on the iPad) and make sure the food is all stocked. They also warm sandwiches, egg bites, wraps, and the ham & Swiss croissants in the ovens (display case setting). If there was an order that arrived and needs to be put away they may also work on that. If you are opening up behind the line you will get ice, calibrate espresso machines, brew teas, stock everything up, and work on brewing hot and iced coffees. Like the other commenter said though, don’t be afraid to ask questions about it or what to do next either. Good luck! :)
