Can I use sick time for calling out because of weather? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by BatWeary
We’re about to get hit with a pretty terrible snow storm in the next few days. I honestly don’t think my car will be able to tolerate it, and I’m not risking my safety (or car—it’s my only means of transportation and I can’t afford a new one or major repairs if something happened). I might have to call off, if so can I use sick time? It’s fine if not but it’d be nice since I need the money

(my store is almost a 40min drive from where I live & I have to take the highway, or else I have to prepare to drive 1 hour and 15 minutes…which I do not want to do)

yeah it’s looking like that “chicken salad” i ate for dinner was real salmonella-y…or maybe i’ll “suddenly” have a “migraine” at 4:30am.

my state got hit with a blizzard last night, so i asked one of my coworkers if they wanted my shift, so i just got it covered (i live 30 mins away from my store )

so if you can you should ask if anyone that lives by your store wants your shifts, lots of people want hours.

if you need to call out, you can put your sick hours down

you don’t have to actually use your sick time only when you’re sick. you can use it whenever you want
