It’s my last day: A trenta rant, extra ice (self.starbucksbaristas)

let me tell you about my useless team lead. for reference I work at a licensed store (which is the biggest scam ever, we get no food markouts, no free drinks, have to wear a hat, have a very strict dress code (red black or white), can’t wear earrings, our employees get stolen if other departments are short staffed etc.) and our store just got remodeled a couple months ago and we got a new team lead when we reopened.

She had no prior starbucks experience and barely any management experience and it’s been two months and she still has no idea wtf she’s doing. like actually. like she literally has to ask us how many shots come in lattes or how many liters of water for cold brew. she’s such a kiss ass to upper management and refuses to advocate for us and if we have a problem with something, we basically have to suck it up because she’s too much of a pushover to try to fix it. she’s never on the floor, she’s always checking her email for an hour or doing a shitty milk run or a shitty pull or doing the order for her whole shift (not even kidding she has spent her entire shift doing the order) or taking 8 hours to put away the order ect.

Yesterday left me absolutely livid lemme tell you. So two of our baristas called in, so that left me and her until the closer came in at 3. i asked her to make some calls and see if anyone was available and she texted one person and didn’t try anymore. she left me alone from 9-1, while she unboxed cups from the order. keep in mind, it’s three days before christmas, this is a Target, and I live in a relatively busy suburban city. So after I got fucked for four hours I finally asked my closer to come in early, which bless her soul she came in at like 1:30 for me. then after my team lead had taken 9 hours to put away the order and unbox all the cups, she left, which meant the closer would have been alone from 4:30(when i got off)-8 during the busiest week of the year. I was prepared to stay but I decided to talk to one of my HR people and see what we could do. she said she’d take care of it and by the time I left, two more baristas were there to help. I was absolutely FUMING. if this had been any of our previous team leads, they would’ve volunteered to stay later, and took the time to call everyone who knows how to make a damn latte, to try to help. I was just appalled by her not giving even the slightest shit and the fact that I had to step up and take care of the short staffing myself. where’s my $22 an hour huh??

the same shit is happening today, the same two people called out (which i’m not mad about, if you sick you sick, stay away from me) and the only reason she cares now is because we don’t have a closer and she keeps whining about how “ohh nooo they’re gonna make me close :((“ I honestly don’t even think she knows how to close.

thank fuck I put my two weeks in two weeks ago and thank fuck I am never working in food service ever again. i will miss nothing about this shit job🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼

edit: she just left in the middle of a rush to go do a team lead white elephant im screaming.

I keep saying I'll never work in the food industry but here I am now after I said that after leaving Wendy's lol.

Also wearing a hat could be a health code thing depending on city or state . That could be why . Maybe they just didn't enforce it before . I know where I work they require hats by city law.

every corporate starbucks in my city doesn’t have to wear hats but the licensed stores do. idk why the health code would be different for target

As I said it could have been a city rule. You never stated where you were so how would I know ? It could very well be a target rule for the Starbucks employees. Could be anything.
