So my state is cold as shit right now. Like when i clocked in it felt like -9° outside. lo and behold, our heater was broken. it was like 48° inside the store, and nobody would help us. We called facilities, who basically said “lol that sucks” and our DM wouldn’t let us close. it got so cold that our secondary bar died on us and we STILL couldn’t close, we were lucky enough that DM let us turn off mobiles. the whole team was suffering, none of us could feel our hands, and the DT fan only made things worse. cant wait to go back in tomorrow!

I don’t think it is technically illegal, but OSHA recommends no less than 68 degrees in the workplace. If it is so cold as to be a hazard to you (can’t feel your hands) then you could consider calling the labor board because it IS illegal to be working in an unsafe workplace.

we tried but unfortunately it is perfectly legal. i’m pissed bc it was so cold that our safe wouldn’t open, which is wild to me

It’s absolutely insane that if customers complain they would close the store to fix the heat in an instant. But the people they exploit for labor can go fuck themselves if they don’t want to freeze. Oh and AkTuaLLy SwEaTeRs ArE AgAiNsT DrEsS CoDe bullshit from managers

Report the District Manager. Nobody needs to be working and suffering in that cold of temperature with appliances malfunctioning because of the cold. This needs to make it to the News, honestly!
