Whips should be emptied into the garbage because they'll mess up your pipes.
whatcakepopsdouhave19 points6m ago
this is devastating to me because i love playing in the whip cream sink :(
but thanks for saying something!! I didn't know. I guess now this means I empty them into a trash bag and swing it around at my coworkers /j

We never dump wc in boh sinks but, we have had different reasons why we don't do it. We have had new partners for the past 2-3 years and we find out they used to dump wc at their old store down the drain, i also remember that our store used to do it as well.
First reason I remember. Whip cream on its own clogs up the drains, all the fat.
Second reason Starbucks detergent has gotten a stronger concentration and when it is mixed with the wc it can make for a much more dense combination.
This leads to a retraining we had (about 2 years ago?) On washing dishes. Hobart takes care of washing and sanitizing so there is no need for detergentb in many cases. We just need to do some hot rinsing to get the debris and sticky stuff out.
What kind of reasoning have been given to your team?
I also used to work at dominos and was a closer, washed dishes, 3 compartment sink method. We had no dishwasher butlots of grease. Idk why i bring that up... Ive washed a lot of dishes ok? 😂
Logical-Doubt-6021 [OP]5 points6m ago
Yeah I know. The people who do our plumbing said it can go in the boh sink. So we put it in the trash or boh sink.
Ceramicusedbook22 points6m ago
It's bad in the BOH sinks too.
EmbarassedMilk316 points6m ago
ok i know this isnt important, but yhe fact ur being down voted for listening to ur plumbers is nuts to me like wtf
Praxlyn14 points6m ago
So if you’re aware why make their jobs harder? Just toss it into the garbage?
sheep_heavenly71 points6m ago
The plumbers told them they can put whips in the sink.
If the plumbing is set up for it (large pipes, no sharp turns, sloping, ideally a grease trap too) there's no reason to not put the whips down the drain. Listen to your facilities team.

See and we were trained the Hobart DOES NOT clean, only sanitizes. I remember in my official modules (Feb 22) it emphasized removing all physical debris because the Hobart doesn’t wash, as well.
ad95813 points6m ago
Feb 22, 2020 or feb 2022?
I have to talk to our team then we are all under the impression that it does both. Some baristas think its redundant to wash then Hobart it 👀
horriblyIndecisive4 points6m ago
I swear the training called it a dishwasher (it uses detergent!) and to remove 3d debris bcs thats what you're supposed to do for all dishwashers to do their jobs properly. 😅 my store is very confused.
geekgurl813 points6m ago
February 2022. My start date was 1/26/22
Atakaii1 points6m ago
starbucks created a bingo for clean safe and ready. it stated it in facts rinses washes and sanitizes. I advise you to look up specific job aids!
geekgurl811 points6m ago
I don’t have to, I remember the training modules. It specifically stated to remove all visible food from items before placing in the Hobart. So while you might get away with just rinsing it, and it works great for syrup residue because of how hot the water gets, it’s not meant to replace detergent, especially for greasy whip.

Been dumping whipped cream down the drains for years now with no issue
Chromosomes2321 points6m ago
You’ll say that now, we didn’t have issues until one day we had our drains backing up so much.
EliMinivan2 points6m ago
Only thing that gives us issues is coffee grounds.
GoldennTrash4 points6m ago
but, you know, it’s better to be safe than sorry with things like this lol

Starbucks-sm28 points6m ago
Not gonna lie, my first thought was, “not in the sink!!"
BelligerentCoroner2 points6m ago
I practically yelled those exact words in my head 💀
clouds18328 points6m ago
psa: whips should always be discharged into the trash. the heavy cream coats the pipes and your grease trap.
themagician30910 points6m ago
Omg a white Christmas ⛄
Kingboo7857 points6m ago
Make a whip man out of it
bigfoots-rightnipple4 points6m ago
Lmao I wanna put my hand in it… But it’s also not a great idea to empty whips in the sink… the fat congelas in your pipes and that’s when they overflow. Not a huge deal as long as you clean the drains often enough, but at my store we try to avoid dumping whips in the sink just to be safe ♥️
Electrical_Metal_1063 points6m ago
Go ahead and put that ticket in for the clogged drains…
-Ana--1 points6m ago
Please tell me you shoved your hands in there to squish it
gryfinboi1 points6m ago
take a spoon to it
vertigo00o1 points6m ago
plz put the heavy cream in the trash, it backs up the pipes since it’s so thick :/
