dont like it as a ssv. it is unnecessary and takes too long to open up to look at when its bumping in the cafe. dont need the "hey ssv where do you want me to go" "oh let me take two minutes to find an ipad and open this app to see everyones positions and move you guys around" meanwhile theres like 20 ppl in line staring at us just standing there. i can delegate the floor with my brain. i can see where people are with my own two eyeballs and make a decision in real time. unnecessary.

During my manager training they told me it’s the best app you could use. It recommend me to have nobody on bar during peak.

It's potentially a useful training tool, but absolutely useless for actually running the floor for any shift with any experience at all. Takes WAY too long to set up a halfway decent play. Plus it prevents you from being flexible if you rely on it too heavily.

I find it useful particularly when there are a lot of partners (so never these days, rip). I’m usually the closing SSV so I’m used to 3-man plays. 6 or more, the app helps to visualize it.

I actually liked it when I first started. It definitely helped me understand our sales volumes and why we were building the play the way we were. But there are nuances that the play builder can’t turn into an algorithm. I still use it pretty heavily. It gets touched at least twice a day but I edit the plan with the knowledge I’ve gained of my store and partners to better suit the team.

It calls for a solo drive through on mids, so that we can have a warming/cafe register person. But warning is too heavy for them to step to cafe to take orders sometimes. So it’s easier to have CS do register, and have a window person, so warming can take orders and do food without leaving their station. Likewise it’ll tell us to do a solo hot bar person and we’ll desperately need more so I have to flex the play.

But I still think it’s an excellent tool for training, especially if you’re a shift that’s new to your store. I kind of get why my DM pushed for its use so heavily.

Must be nice to have your warming position take orders. Still can't do that at my store. :(

We definitely can’t do it during peak, but during close it works ok. During the morning and mid, it’s just too busy to try to make one person do more than one thing. It affects times way too much.

But we are lucky in that we are a very high volume store, so we get lots of sales which means more labor. But we did just take a MASSIVE cut and now everyone is talking about unionizing. 😬😬

As a new SSV who hasn't quite gotten the hang of running the floor or how to best deploy partners yet, I personally like Playbuilder. I do think the plays that it gives are ridiculous at times, like my store does not need a DTR over a Cafe/mobile bar midday since we're a more remote location. I think it is more of a guideline than an actual hard-and-set play to follow.

i use it to set the floor up in the morning as an opener since it’s easier for me to physically see something but i don’t use it for any shift other than opens

In theory, it makes sense.

Practically, it’s unnecessary and a waste of time. I absolutely never ever use it. Why as a SSV when I’m juggling so many things would I take the time to set everyone? Position changes happen quick and my partners know what’s expected of them at each position. It’s the same story about the CSR cards

I'm a closing shift, and have used it a little, just to familiarize myself, but honestly it feels clunky and doesn't really make the best choices. I think it's a great tool to help learn about where ppl should be and know the different stations, but it's not really helpful once you have a handle on the staff/positions and over all flow of the store. I learned more by asking the more senior ssvs.

Meh.

Our SM just has us build our play at the start of our shift and we don’t have to touch it after that.

I use it as guide at the start of the day to place everyone, once I start to actually get people in, it usually changes.

I hate it. we honestly always have to waste time customizing the play to make sense for our store- because it’s auto generated positions and placements are a big fail hahaha

I hate it, my SM only allows one if the other ssv to do it because is like his “assistant”. And when I’m running the shifts he asks me why I don’t follow it… and I’m like Bruh, lemme do MY job in MY way, I don’t like the way this other guy assigns roles…
