Bring back staying 2 week sick pay for Covid and stop forcing baristas to work when positive(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ozzy064
The Policy is bullshit, I still wear a mask at work diligently wash my hands and really only go to work and back home. I should not be catching covid for the third time from a covid positive partner because starbucks feels like the pandemic is over.
NEWSFLASH it aint over Fuck this shit I'm tired of catching covid. I'm entirely vaccinated as well, Change the policy back Starbucks the BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY Can fucking afford it, Howard Schultz suck my ass

It’s infuriating. Then our SMs/DMs wonder why suddenly half the store is out sick and we’re drowning trying to keep up 🙄

I agree but pretty much every business is getting rid of it or already did. I don't think Wendy's even gave pay just time off. It sucks but that is what you get with capitalism. Also our politicians are backed by big corporations so never going to get fixed until we kick out the establishment and further left.

No one is forcing you to work when positive. Show me the policy that says you have to work if you test positive for covid. Stop lying.
violentfemme1726 points6m ago
It’s not a matter of being “forced” per se, more that we shouldn’t have to worry about paying our bills because our choices are to come into work sick/risk getting sick, or have no money.

Its not lying its in the policy that if you are still covid positive and dont have a fever you are able to work. Which is ludicrous it is still a full blown pandemic killing at least 7 people per day. Thats 1.1 MILLION people this year alone. Its serious we should have guaranteed protected time off for covid. I already have a permanent condition from the first time I got it. Stop deepthroating the boot
Ozzy064 [OP]6 points6m ago
To reiterate I shouldnt have to use the sick hours I worked hard for MY sick hours for a policy that does barely anything to protect us.

Then find a company that will take care of you the way you see fit.... I'll wait.

Used to be starbucks

You’re a condescending prick.
Massive_Pumpkin_96063 points6m ago
your standards are below bare minimum my guy starbucks can afford it... what are you gaining through underselling yourself
Oh I completely believe that. I was just showing that 7 deaths a day is nowhere near a million deaths in a year.

Completely false….. A partner has recovered and can return to work when: Self isolation has been completed AND Free of vomiting, diarrhea, and fever (without the use of fever-reducing medications) for 1 day (24 hours) AND if symptomatic, other symptoms have improved.
That’s word for word the policy. The reason why is because it is possible to continue to test positive for up to three months after recovering from COVID-19. The policy isn’t terrible and if it is name a place where it’s better? When I miss work or anyone that I know misses work to get paid you supplement those hours with sick or vacation or some other beneficial hours that have been earned. That’s the reason those hours are part of the benefits you receive.

What other company does that? That was a luxury to have. The policy is within the cdc guidelines. I don’t know anyone at any other company that would get 2 weeks paid for them. I know people that could use their sick pay and vacation pay if need be. That’s pretty much the standard at this point with every U.S. based company. Like I said before, it was a luxury to have that benefit and we should all be thankful for that. It’s just not the standard anymore, anywhere. Also Schultz is not the CEO anymore.

>That’s pretty much the standard at this point with every U.S. based company.
Starbucks claims to be better. "The standard" in a country internationally known to fuck over it's workers every chance it gets isn't good enough.
People once claimed breaks were a luxury that people shouldn't demand, it should be a reward. Now rest periods are legally required in most states. I'm glad people back then didn't listen to the people like you, stubbornly digging their heels in to any improvement to the working conditions.

Starbucks is still exceeding the standard for 99% of US employers lmfao. I still have 80 COVID hours PLUS 160 (130 now) sick hours readily available since I hadn’t got sick until last week.
sheep_heavenly11 points6m ago
That's not how covid leave works, before or currently.
Before they got rid of it, you got 5 days paid leave from the date of test. If you worked all five or just one didn't matter, 5 calendar days later your leave was over.
Currently there is zero COVID leave and there has never been COVID "hours".
0x52and1x52-2 points6m ago
Wrong. It is literally under the hours on my paystub listed as “Suppl. COVID sick leave”.

I mean I guess they were the ones working during strikes because they love their baby daddy 🫠🙃🤣
i-am-not-sure-yet1 points6m ago
Amazon offered it that's for sure. I got it and I ended up being negative for covid. But I couldn't do anything about it since they took my off the schedule.

Totally agree. Some baristas on here would die if they found out how most companies operate lol. Also, Laxman isn’t CEO until April 1st iirc.
