and for tips to be split across the people who worked today only

This too at least this
RosieHarlan18 points6m ago
That’s the case for credit card tips at least.

YES!!!!!!! I know tips are only split between the day for Christmas Day but I agree that it should be the same for Christmas Eve. We were SLAMMED yesterday (Christmas Eve) and we worked our tails off for the tips that came in. If we would have split the tips between just the hours worked that day, it would have been $10/hour! When they get pooled together with the rest of the week they will only increase the amount per hour by maybe $1.
SO frustrating!

I work at a grocery store Starbucks where we don’t get tips. How are they normally split? It would make sense for it to just be the people that worked that day

cash tips are normally split by the week, so pooled together and then distributed based on how many hours you worked and how much we earned. but cash tips christmas eve were so much more than previous days have been so its a bit unfair that the ones who worked christmas eve and earned those extra tips won’t get more than those who didn’t work christmas eve. people are much more generous on christmas eve than the rest of the week.

Wait is it not time and a half?!?!
Ordinary-Theory-82897 points6m ago
Well it’s not a federal holiday, so no
scrtlyclyps3 points6m ago
My store was led to believe it was by our sm 🥲
AshMoony2 points6m ago
Same. I was told it was my first year, and only just found out it’s not.

Our store was the only one in the district that stayed open with regular hours (5 am to 8 pm) on Christmas Eve. The better your store does, the harder they make you work. We are the top store in our district and that was our Christmas present this year.
HappyBarista2 points6m ago
Absolutely!! We were SLAMMED yesterday (Christmas Eve) and they were sending people home early today (Christmas Day) bc it was so dead!!!!
No_Indication_52051 points6m ago
They cant make you go home early and on a stat, I'd recommend refusing. They can close on Christmas to save money, not have employees come in on a holiday then pressure them to go home early because its not busy and they're losing money. They knew they'd lose money today anyways 🤷♂️

Pissed cause I got conned (and so did pretty much everyone that worked Christmas Eve at my store) we all thought we got time and a half until a few days before or DURING the shift. Even our SM told us we got time and a half. We were all pissed. I’m only ok with having worked it because I needed the extra hours but damn that sucked
Weekly-Cow-66141 points6m ago
Working Christmas Eve was worse than working Christmas
Professional-Lie6004 [OP]1 points6m ago
