Am I hallucinating (i.redd.it)
submitted by Comfortable_Usual844
I thought the salted caramel cold brew got vanilla in the base??? Since when is it 4 pumps of caramel pls help I feel like I’m losing it
PercyGabriel1129 365 points 6m ago
I just checked it also and I see the same. I swear, the people who make the app don't communicate with the people who make the drink builds at all. It's so annoying lol
Ew_Oxygen1124 25 points 6m ago
Yeah mine said the same
Water-is-h2o 100 points 6m ago
Does the POS say the same? If not I’m gonna believe the POS over the app
Ew_Oxygen1124 114 points 6m ago
Pos and recipe cards have always said vanilla. The app is being screwy
firepaper 17 points 6m ago
It did not always say vanilla, it’s always said vanilla since the recipe was updated. It used to be caramel in the cold brew just salt packets in the foam
Ew_Oxygen1124 12 points 6m ago
*has always said vanilla as long as I’ve worked there
neighborhoodswamphag 26 points 6m ago
It used to be made with caramel years ago. I don’t know why the app still says it should come with caramel and full pumps.
Comfortable-Plane944 74 points 6m ago
I remember getting a mobile ticket that said “ no Carmel syrup” and was confused. So I just put the Carmel in the foam anyway.

This feel like something that needs to get fixed
Ricenoodlerolls 10 points 6m ago
Why would you do that 😂
Comfortable-Plane944 47 points 6m ago
Because what they wanted was no vanilla in the drink . Even checked with them when they picked it up
Apprehensive_Flow219 47 points 6m ago
it was updated in the weekly update last year i believe
RyusuiJL 37 points 6m ago
Do you remember around when that update came out? Both POS and Core Recipies in the iPad app say vanilla.
saltandseasmoke 18 points 6m ago
Recipe cards also say vanilla (the batch we have was printed in 2021 I think)
RyusuiJL 1 points 6m ago
I never look at the cards anymore. Either the POS or iPad app.
guachummus 10 points 6m ago
Yep it was. I know a lot of people still haven’t changed the way they make it though
catgirlmunist 7 points 6m ago
I believe it had caramel before that and the update changed it to vanilla. My store's physical recipe cards are very old and say caramel, but the digital recipe card and the POS both say vanilla.

I wasn't around for that update though, so I could be wrong.
Magnumxl711 2 points 6m ago
Dang i started in April and was taught to use Vanilla
lewabwee -15 points 6m ago
Yeah, throwing support to this comment. It gets caramel now.
drowninginristretto 26 points 6m ago
The change last year was to support consistency through all Starbucks cold brews (excluding Irish cream cold brew) . The standard is now vanilla in the base of each beverage and the flavor in the foam.
FinancialPin20 40 points 6m ago
so is it 2 pumps of vanilla or 4 pumps of
caramel no one is saying a clear answer 😭
jamieisntgay 24 points 6m ago
It was 4 half-pumps of vanilla (or 2 full-pumps), recently in a weekly update they said the recipe is switching to using caramel syrup. Looks like the app just updated for this change, but POS and partner resources still say vanilla, so nobody's 100% sure
drowninginristretto 13 points 6m ago
The weekly update was switching from 4 half dose pumps of caramel to 4 half those pumps of vanilla in the base of the beverage to promote consistency throughout the cold brew experience for the customers and for partners building the beverage.
Now it should be vanilla in the base of every beverage excluding Irish cream cold brew if I'm not mistaken
jamieisntgay 2 points 6m ago
That update was years ago, this one is recent and switching back to using caramel syrup
StuffiesAndBeatSaber 8 points 6m ago
I've always done vanilla and now I'm second guessing if to continue using vanilla 😭 I feel like my regulars will be confused it if suddenly tastes different
catgirlmunist 3 points 6m ago
Do you remember which weekly update specifically? I don't recall seeing that change recently.
jamieisntgay 1 points 6m ago
Wish I could but I just went on a month long leave :') hopefully someone else who has access to their store's weekly updates can answer
BobbyGumdrops 22 points 6m ago
Hahahahahahah green bean here this is why I'm on this sub, didn't know you added pumps of anything in the brew.
borrowedurmumsvcard 17 points 6m ago
it gets 4 half pumps of vanilla. all of the foam cold brews do
RyusuiJL 16 points 6m ago
Except Irish Cream. Which gets Irish Cream syrup.
Calsan1 6 points 6m ago
And it's 2 FULL pumps, not half-pumps in the foam for the Irish Cream, which is also not the standard for other foams.
borrowedurmumsvcard -16 points 6m ago
nope. irish cream syrup is in the foam. vanilla in the cold brew
NyanBecca 25 points 6m ago
They changed the recipe last holiday. It’s Irish cream in both now
catgirlmunist 9 points 6m ago
The SCCCB is really fucked up in the app right now. On top of the syrup being wrong, it's displaying 3-4-6-7 pumps instead of 1-2-3-4 and showing the volume unit as "null" on my phone.
Comfortable_Usual844 [OP] 5 points 6m ago
No really when has any grande cold brew EVER gotten 4 pumps? Definitely was taught 2
[deleted] 2 points 6m ago
[deleted]
Comfortable_Usual844 [OP] 1 points 6m ago
That’s what I’ve always thought
[deleted] 1 points 6m ago
[deleted]
Hilbabe42 1 points 6m ago
The 3-4-6-7 is the cold bar half dose pumps, where the 1-2-3-4 is the full dose hot bar pumps.
Necessary_Low939 7 points 6m ago
They change their recipe so much it’s like I don’t even know how to make drinks anymore!
thebestdaysofmyflerm 6 points 6m ago
Wtf? Can someone check this in the POS?
RyusuiJL 17 points 6m ago
POS and the Core Beverage Recipies in the iPad app say Vanilla. Just checked them both right now.
thebestdaysofmyflerm 6 points 6m ago
Thank you, there was too much confusion in this thread
R1P2MYOUTH 5 points 6m ago
this is so weird, the app also says hot chocolates still get vanilla even though they havent gotten vanilla in years😭 they need to fix this fr
kitkatbby23 5 points 6m ago
2 pumps of vanilla in the drink and 2 pumps of caramel with 2 packets of salt in the foam is what I’ve always known for a grande
Apprehensive-You5261 1 points 6m ago
See when I started I was taught to just do salt packets in the foam but vanilla in the drink and always wondered why it’s called salted caramel
Wild_Nature_2638 5 points 6m ago
Storelink has the most up to date card, still is vanilla
nicolelynnejones 4 points 6m ago
Well. shit
xEman26x 3 points 6m ago
Throwback to when it was caramel in the cup and not in the cold foam.
peternal_pansel 3 points 6m ago
…I was taught to put caramel in the drink and salt in the foam smfh
nicolelynnejones 13 points 6m ago
That’s the old old recipe
peternal_pansel 4 points 6m ago
🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽

I work at a franchise and I promise we don’t get regular updates.
BatWeary 1 points 6m ago
also the better recipe
greenssv 2 points 6m ago
Yeah....our ipads and the app also told us hot choc got vanilla in standard build and it does not. Our new recipe cards are right...the app and ipad are wrong and it has been reported...hopefully it gets resolved soon.
mellygoesmoomoo 2 points 6m ago
And this is literally why every barista makes drinks differently. During my training I was told caramel, transferred to a new store and they looked at me like I was crazy and said no it had like 2 pumps of vanilla. Now the app is saying caramel. I'm done, I'm over it, I don't even know my own job anymore and I'm a trainer. This is ridiculous
GVRDENS_1 2 points 6m ago
The POS still says vanilla at my store. I don’t know anymore. This company is a disaster.
pinkjortz 2 points 6m ago
The caramel *used to* go in the bottom but now it goes in the foam, with vanilla at the bottom. No idea what the app is doing. It also lists an incorrect amount of dark caramel pumps in the crunch because it also counts the caramel at the bottom rather than what’s blended in.
darkwolf523 2 points 6m ago
I know the bottom comes with vanilla and the foam have caramel. But this is me when I saw hot chocolate on the app says vanilla.
BornLoquat9 1 points 6m ago
This is the old recipe. This is not the new recipe.
Sarenord 1 points 6m ago
This is incredible lmao
MrwaveMcgee 1 points 6m ago
They changed it this year y’all
[deleted] 1 points 6m ago

Apprehensive-You5261 1 points 6m ago
It used to be this recipe and then it changed now I guess it changed back and nobody informed us? Or the app is just being screwy. Also is there caramel IN the foam? Because when I was rehired in may I was taught to do just salt packets in the foam no caramel and two pumps of vanilla in the cold brew. But recently I’ve been doing caramel in the foam because it’s a salted caramel cold brew if there’s no caramel in the drink or foam where’s the caramel? Only one other person at my store also makes it with caramel so I feel like im crazy for thinking it should have it.

Edit:spelling
Imaginary-One-6599 1 points 6m ago
My brain memory storage is full from trying to remembering all the recipes 🥲
Borobucks 1 points 6m ago
The app also says the Hot chocolate still gets vanilla
BabyH1ppo 1 points 6m ago
This is the old recipe
lsdmurmun420 1 points 6m ago
Maybe it’s the pumps in the foam?
MessatineSnows 1 points 6m ago
i just make whatever is in the cards
icycold- 1 points 6m ago
What?!?! Weird, I swear I checked the app a couple of months ago for this exact reason and it listed vanilla syrup. So stupid.
Comfortable_Usual844 [OP] 1 points 6m ago
No me too because I used to sub the vanilla for caramel so I can’t understand what’s happening😂🙄

It’s been vanilla in the base of every cold brew since sometime 3rd quarter of 2021. It happened not long before holiday launch and they had to reprint the Irish Cream cold brew recipe cards and resend them because the original ones said Irish cream syrup in the base.

The POS team and the customer facing app team need to talk to each other 🙄
firepaper 3 points 6m ago
It is Irish cream in the base though..
firepaper 3 points 6m ago
And also the foam
Hilbabe42 1 points 6m ago
You’re right. I think I’m losing my mind some days. I guess what I was thinking of is the recipe cards were sent out last year saying to put vanilla in the base but Irish in the foam and they had to be reprinted and sent back out.
