Never forget, for some reason I got super dressed up for my first day at Starbucks back in September 2021. (i.redd.it)

I was overly dressed up for both my interview and my First Sip day lol. I’m not great with social norms lol. I ended up asking a coworker how to dress because I knew I was overdressed but I had no clue what to change lol.

yeah i had to ask my mom for the first week 😵‍💫 i go to work in old clothes now because it’s more than likely they’re gonna get dirty lol

Lol my uniform from day 1 has been khakis and a black tshirt for that exact reason

I wore a top hat to my interview and then proceeded to wear one for the next year because that's how everyone knew me

Luckily I’d applied for, interviewed for, and worked a few min wage jobs by the time I got to Starbucks so I avoided this mishap 😅

When I started in 2016, that was basically the dress code. Lol. Black button ups, slacks, and black or brown leather shoes was the dress code back then.

That sounds horrible. With how much bending I had to do while working at SB, wearing a dress shirt and dress pants (neither of which *ever* fit me), I’m not sure if I would have taken the job lol. Which would suck because I ended up falling in love with the job because I love working with the public and my coworkers and bosses were amazing.

(For the record, the reason I can never find any that fit me right is because my body doesn’t fit standardized sizing in anyway, it’s a long story, basically blame my scoliosis making my torso and legs shorter than would fit the rest of my body).

Sorry for the ramble. I’m neurodivergent and I have a bad habit of doing that, but since I typed it all I don’t wanna delete it lol.

Lol I have to wear business casual at the one I work at because it's a reserve roastery 😭😭. First time dressing up for a food job lol

I wore a button up, dress pants, and a fucking bowtie, worked there for 2 months 💀

Had a coworker for do this. They still kind of do. No one cares or has said anything. Sounds like more of a coworker problem! Don’t feel weird about it!

one of mine does too!! always in a button up, bow tie, slacks and dress shoes. i have no idea how he isn’t miserable by the end of his shift, if it were me those dress shoes would have been on fire in the parking lot
